RINA'S POV

I lay down on the bed, practically flinging myself down. I bury my face in blankets and sigh loudly. Just as I start to get comfortable my phone starts ringing. I groan and make myself get up to answer it. There's only three people that would call me- Mira, David, or my mother. Considering David was upset with me and my mom just called me yesterday, it can only be one person.
"Hello?"
"So how are things?" Mira asks.
"Super duper. David is still upset I didn't tell him about how I was having problems at work and then quit but he claims he understands and isn't mad."
There's a long pause as we both just sit there. Mira sighs and says, "Boys are too much work. Let's just swear a life of celibacy and become nuns."
"Sounds like a plan. When can we start?"
"Girls aren't so easy either you know!" Jay yells in the background. Mira yells something inaudible back and then I hear a door shut. Mira sighs again.
"Boys are annoying," she says.
"Yes they are. So what are we doing after work tomorrow? I was thinking we could do another prank. I've got a new one that I think would be brilliant."
"Well Jay and I are going to the aquarium."
"We are?" Jay asks loudly.
"Yes now stop eavesdropping and shhhh. I'm trying to talk to Rina," Mira replies. There's a loud thump sound and then Jay yells "Ow!" Again there's a door slam and Mira muttering something.
"So anyway. Back to what you were saying," she says.
"Well if you guys are busy tomorrow then our prank can just wait. So is there a specific reason you're going to the aquarium?"
Once again Jay intrudes, saying, "Mira I'm going to the grocery store. I'll be back soon."
"Oh my goodness you're annoying," she groans.
"I know," he says.
"Leave. And take the grocery list I made with you."
"Yes ma'am."
There's another long pause. For a moment I think Mira might've accidentally hung up on me. I look at the phone and see that we're still connected.
"We are going to the aquarium because I want to. After that we're going somewhere for dinner. You can come if you want to," she eventually says.
"Nah. Guess I'll just be stuck with David for the night."
"I can feel the love." I turn around to see David standing in the doorway.
"I need some stuff so I'm going to the store. Want me to get you anything?" he asks.
"I've just had a brilliant idea," Mira whispers in my ear. I ignore her and answer David.
"We need hand sanitizer and chips."
"Okay. I'll be back in a bit. Bye," he says and then leaves the room. Mira starts to talk but I shush her. I wait until I hear the front door shut then, at the same time, we both say the same thing.
"They're up to something."
"I mean seriously, how dumb do they think we are? It's almost 11:30 and they both randomly decide to go to the store? Sketchy," Mira mutters. "But that's okay if they prank us because I already have the perfect retaliation."
"Okay well so do I."
"We can just combine our pranks. Rina, any chance you still have that car chalk from Jacob's birthday last year?"
"Of course I do. I'm practically a hoarder. Do you have color changing nail polish?"
"Nope," she replies.
"Well neither do I so I guess we'll just have to use regular. Our prank is going to be so much cooler than there's."
-----------
The next morning I woke up earlier than usual. I tried to be as quiet as possible as I crawled out of bed and snuck out of the room. I grabbed the bag of supplies I needed and went into the bathroom. I text Mira and Eliza to make sure they're awake then get to work. I do the nail polish first- a bright green, his favorite color, then a bright pink, my favorite color. Then I grab my box of chalk and go outside to where his car was parked. First I drawl random things all over the windows, making sure it's covered in lots of colors. After that I start his car, turn on the windshield wipers, then turn his car back off. I set the remaining pieces of chalk on the windshield wipers so that when he turns his car on to leave, his window will be covered in a rainbow of chalk streaks. Then I go back inside to check the time. I have exactly fifteen minutes before David's alarm will go off. I rush back into our room to finish the prank. I grab the small bag of rainbow glitter and rip it open. I hesitate before pouring it all over the bed. This is going to be hell to clean up. After the bag is empty, I grab my dry erase marker and walk over to the mirror.
Taste the Rainbow, I write in large messy letters. I set his car keys on the dresser where I found them and put a fun size bag of Skittles next to it. I glance back over at the clock. Ten minutes to get dressed and leave.
I fling open my closet and look at all of my clothes hanging up. I still wasn't really sure what I was suppose to wear to work. Mira never said how nice I had to dress. I just grab some jeans and a decent looking shirt and quickly put on my shoes. My phone buzzes obnoxiously loud in the quiet room.
I'm here -Mira
I grab my purse and walk outside. As I walked towards Mira's car, Eliza was getting out of the passenger seat.
"What are you doing?" I ask her. She glares at me.
"Rina kicked me out of the front," she replies. This makes me smile slightly as I climb into the car.
"So how did it go?" Mira asks immediately.
"It was fine. I'm not looking forward to cleaning up that glitter. David wakes up in about.. two minutes so I suggest we leave."
"Alrighty."
----
We pull into the parking lot of Pastry Pages and get out of the car. Strangely, there's been nothing from the boys. I would've thought they would have called or texted us by now. That made us slightly nervous. Also we knew that we had to be watching out for whatever prank they had planned for us.
Mira's phone beeps and Eliza and I watch as she slowly pulls it out of her pocket.
"It's only Cameron," she tells us. Then she scowls. "He's not coming to work today. Jerk."
"Hm that's strange," Eliza mutters, squinting at the building.
"What?" asks Mira.
"Do you usually leave the lights on?"
"Fuck."
Mira speed walks towards the bakery with Eliza and I just behind her. She stumbles with the keys for a few seconds before she can manage to get the door unlocked.
She throws open the door and rushes inside. Nothing appeared to be different. Nothing was broken and Mira checked the cash register to see that none of the money was taken. The three of us look around in confusion before Eliza finally realized what was wrong.
"Everything's gone!" she exclaims, running out from the kitchen. "All the pastries that we made yesterday is missing."
Mira and I shove her out of the way and over the where the baked goods were stored. Eliza was right; all of the pastries we had made yesterday to sell today were gone. The only thing left was a single note.
"I'm gonna kill them," Mira growls and snatches the note. Her eyes scan the page and the she crumples it up and throws it on the floor. I reach down and pick it up.
Let's play hide and seek. We'll hide the pastries and you can seek them. Your first clue- they're somewhere dark and cold. Your next clue is waiting.
I pass the note to Eliza and look over at Mira. She was pacing back and forth, concentration on her face.
"Dark and cold? What the hell does that mean?" Eliza questions.
"I don't know! It's the end of summer, there's not many cold and dark places."
"An ice cream place?"
"No..."
"Ohmygosh I know where it is!" Eliza suddenly yells. "A few nights ago I made Jacob clean out his giant freezer because everything in it was gross and expired. I would bet everything that it's in there!"
"Alright. Okay. We literally have nothing to sell and the bakery opens in a half an hour. You two go there and see. Here's my keys. Fit as much as you can in my car and take as little trips as you can. I'll stay here and get started on making more stuff," Mira says and shoves her keys into my hands. I grab Eliza's arm and drag her behind me as I run towards the exit. I hope those idiot boys get glitter stuck on every inch of them.
//////
"Did you get everything?" Mira asks. She has a wild look in her eye that makes my steps falter slightly.
"Um ya. The pastries were hidden in a closet. We managed to shove everything into the car. How were things here?" I ask.
"Insane. I feel like this is the busiest we've ever been. Maybe it just feels like that though because I didn't have much to sell."
"What I wanna know is how they got in here? Does Jay have a key or something?" Eliza asks. Mira shakes her head.
"The only people that have keys to this place are me, my dad, and... Cameron. That little asshole." Mira looks pissed. She pulls out her phone and calls her brother, putting it on speaker for us to hear. He picks up after only two rings.
"Yes?"
"You little butthead. You gave them the keys didn't you?" Mira demands.
"I don't know what you're talking about," he replies. He sounded very smug.
"Admit your sins or I'll fire you," Mira threatens.
"Alright crabby. I gave them the keys. Not only that but I also gave them the idea. That's what you get for using Saran Wrap to tie me to my bed."
With that he hangs up. Mira angrily stares at her phone for a few seconds before shoving it back into her pocket.
"I want revenge," she says with her evil smile. "This war is far from over."
"She can be kinda scary sometimes," Eliza whispers to me.
"Yes she is. And so can I. It's time to take this to the next level," I reply. Ideas whirled through my mind as I started putting the pastries back where they belonged.
