Back to Mira's POV
I'm exhausted by time I get home from work. I'm also still slightly upset about the boys prank so the combination of those two things did not put me in a good mood. I open the door to the apartment and step inside. I kick off my shoes and set down my purse then walk into the small living room where Jay was watching tv. I sit down next to him and start opening the McDonald's bag I had brought home. Jay looks at me in disbelief as I pull out a box of four piece chicken nuggets and a medium sized container of French fries. I crumple up the empty bag and set it on the table.
"Why are you staring at me like that?" I ask him with a smirk. I sip loudly on the drink that I got.
"You didn't bring me any?"
"Nope."
"Well that's rude. Why not?"
I shrug and shove a few fries into my mouth. I open my box of chicken nuggets and take a bite out of one before answering.
"You don't deserve any," I say. He leans over and tries to steal some of my food but I slap his hand away and put more fries into my mouth.
"You realize we're going to dinner later, right? You were the one who set tonight up," he says.
"Ya but dinner isn't until after the aquarium. I needed a snack," I reply. He grumbles something under his breath and goes back to watching the tv. I look up at him and start laughing.
"You have a bit of.. just a little bit of glitter in you hair," I tell him. He groans and runs his hands through his hair. A bunch of purple glitter flutters out but I could still see some in his hair. I was also pleased to see his nails were still painted blue.
"Where did you even get glitter from?" he asks, still trying to get it out of his hair.
"Rina and I always put it in each others birthday cards so I had a bag of it in the closet."
"I hate you," he grumbles.
"No you don't. You love me. And I'm glad to hear you were as miserable as I was this morning."
"Whatever. When are we leaving for the aquarium?"
"As soon as I take a shower," I reply. I decide to be nice and give him the last few fries. I get up and throw my garbage away then walk towards our bedroom.
------
After I put my shoes on, I walk back out into the living room. Jay was in the same spot that I left him but he was in nicer clothes than before. He was talking to someone onto the phone so I try to be quiet and sit down next to him.
"Who is it?" I whisper to him.
"Jacob," he says.
"Oh, tell him to go away. We're leaving," I say loudly, hoping that Jacob could hear me.
Jay hands me the phone and stands up. He says, "Talk to him while I get my shoes on."
I roll my eyes and put it on speaker. Jacob was rambling on about something, obviously not realizing that no one was listening.
"What are you blabbering on about?" I ask. He stops talking and pauses.
"How was work this morning?" There was such a smugness in his voice.
"It was super fantastic," I reply in an overly cheery voice. "Did you happen to see any rainbows today?"
"Shut up," he grumbles. Not so smug now. "Where's Jay?" he asks.
"Putting his shoes and socks on. We're going to the aquarium," I say.
"We're going to the aquarium? When?"
"You're not going anywhere. Jay and I are going by ourselves and we're leaving now so goodbye."
I hang up before he can reply and hand the phone back to Jay. Jay smiles and rolls his eyes.
"That was kinda rude," he says. I shrug.
"Oh wells. Let's go. I'm ready to look at the fishy."
"You're a strange person."
"That's not very nice to say...but I suppose it's true. Anything else you wanna say to me?" I ask. I spin around in my new dress that was the same shade of blue as my eyes and, coincidentally, Jay's nails. Tonight I actually put some effort into my look. My dress was matched with a simple blue necklace Jay had gotten me awhile ago and I had put on more makeup than I usually do. Since I had just gotten out of the shower, my hair was a curly mess so I put a headband in to push it out of my face. I actually looked decent for our date.
"You look as lovely as ever. I especially like the black converse," Jay says with a laugh. I look down at my comfy shoes and shrug.
"I was planning on wearing these cute high heels that I stole from Rina but then I decided these were much better."
Jay rolls his eyes and laughs. Then he takes my hand and leads us towards the door.
"Come on. Let's go," he says.
