''....not sure.''

''Well, maybe....''

Light is invading her closed eyes. Voices try to reach her ears.

''... who knows, really?''

Something warm is around her hand, she rolls her head to the side slowly.

''Hold on...''

She frowns, not wanting to open her eyes just yet. The light is way too bright.

''Camz?''

Camila rolls her head towards the voice, but her eyes remain closed. The warm thing on her hand is moving slowly while the light around her seems to be brighter than before.

''Camila? Hey baby...'' a voice trails off and finally the astronaut realizes it's Lauren's voice. The thought alone makes her want to open her eyes immediately, but the light is almost blinding her. So she carefully blinks her eyes open, seeing the blurry figure of her girlfriend before her eyes close again in exhaustion.

Her hands tense up and that's when she realizes the warmth around her right hand is coming from Lauren's hand. Her girlfriend is by her side, softly caressing her fingers and the back of her hand and it calms her down almost instantly.

''L-Lau..'' she trails off, her voice hoarse and her throat hurts. She opens her eyes again, quickly blinking against the white lights and slowly seeing Lauren's face clear up.

''It's me baby, its okay.'' Lauren whispers to her, bringing their entwined hands up to her mouth to press a lingering kiss against the back of Camila's hand.

The astronaut swallows and tries to speak again but there's no sound coming out of her mouth. Then Lauren looks away from her and Camila tries to follow her gaze but her tired and heavy eyes fall closed again. She fights herself to stay awake, to keep listening to Lauren's voice but before she knows what's happening, she falls back into a deep sleep.

There is something warm around her hand. And this time, Camila realizes a lot quicker that somebody has entwined their fingers with hers. Bright lights are rudely waking her up while muffled voices and annoying beeps are heard on the background.

Camila blinks her eyes open tiredly and sees Lauren sitting next to her.

''Hey, baby..'' Lauren trails off with a gentle smile on her lips. Camila can only look at her, not yet fully realizing that Lauren is right next to her. She can't exactly remember what happened.

Where am I?

Camila looks around uncertainly and hears the door open. Lauren talks to somebody and a warm hand is placed against her forehead before her eyes fall closed once again.

It takes another two hours before Lauren can finally look into clear and awake brown eyes again for the first time since what feels like forever. After everything that happened, they are sitting next to each other again, both completely safe and under strict surveillance of the nurses and doctors of the hospital.

''Kyano?'' the astronaut asks carefully and Lauren shows a reassuring smile immediately.

''He's safe. He's with Dinah and Normani right now. They'll bring him here later.'' Lauren explains and watches the insane amount of relief that overflows her girlfriend's eyes. Then worry makes its way back on her face again before she speaks up.

''Are you okay?'' Camila asks, carefully checking Lauren's face for any sign of pain or hurtful emotions.

Lauren just nods and sees the astronaut look at her eyebrow. The swelling has lessened a lot and the color is still a mixture of blue and yellow. But it doesn't hurt anymore, and that's the most important thing.
