Chapter 23

''Okay, can you hit the green one again?'' Lauren asks nervously, looking over the edge of her laptop-screen to watch Camila.

''Done.'' Camila answers, looking back from the oxygen system screen to the technician again.

''Okay, so now that the bug is out of the system, it should show the number of installed oxygen tanks..'' Lauren mutters, her eyes focused back on her screen.

Camila can't help but smile at the sight. Lauren has been working these past two weeks on fixing the system non-stop, and she has finally been able to find the bug that caused all the problems. All there is left to do now is get the system back up and running again, and Lauren is determined to do just that.

''What does it say, Camz?'' Lauren calls out and it snaps Camila out of her 'Lauren-trance' quickly.

''Uhm, 5.'' She answers and Lauren nods proudly, seemingly wanting to hear that exact number. Camila grins as she goes back to staring at the green-eyed girl as she mutters some things to herself and taps away on her laptop.

Camila bites her lip while she looks at Lauren. The concentrated frown between her eyebrows and slightly squinted eyes make her look incredibly smart, her parted lips and white teeth that occasionally sink into her bottom lip make her really sexy. And the shining from her bright eyes, her messy ponytail and Camila's big NASA sweater make her look flat out adorable. Camila sighs happily, knowing that these past two weeks she fell even more in love with Lauren than she ever thought was possible.

''Camila?''

''Hmm?'' Camila's eyes snap up and she blushes a little at the knowing smirk on Lauren's lips. ''Sorry, what did you say babe?''

Now it's Lauren's turn to blush and Camila's turn to smirk playfully at her.

''Uh, I asked which numbers there are on the screen.'' Lauren mutters and gulps quietly.

''Oh, let's see... 4.5.'' she answers and Lauren nods, typing in the new information into her laptop.

''Is that good?'' Camila asks, holding on to the handle next to the system to be able to call out the information that Lauren needs from her place on the chair.

''That's perfect! That's the amount of months we're supposed to have oxygen for. When we first installed them I knew it had to be five months, but now after almost three weeks, it's got to be at 4.5. It's actually even a little more than I expected, so I guess we've been saving oxygen.'' Lauren answers with a wide grin.

Camila nods with a proud smile. She has seen how hard Lauren has been working on fixing the most important system in the station and she's really happy she finally did it. She's proud of her.

''Okay, final one. Camz, I need you to go into the detox room.'' Lauren says, looking up from her screen to connect her gaze with Camila's, who nods at her.

''Okay. Why?'' she asks and Lauren smiles adorably at her.

''Because I'm going to need you to start the detox procedure so I can check if the system picks up on the oxygen change in that room. That way we know it's safe to go outside the station and come back in without any fear of things going wrong.'' Lauren explains and Camila nods in understanding.

She pulls herself to the detox room and closes the door behind her. After waiting for Lauren's signal, she hits a few buttons that start the detox procedure to remove any dangerous gasses or chemicals and add oxygen to the room to provide the astronauts with air while they get out of their suits when they get back from a mission outside the space station. She holds her breath when the stream of oxygen fills up the room shortly and waits for Lauren's thumbs up to breathe again. After just a few short moments, she sees a wide grin form on the technician's face and two thumbs up into the air and Camila takes a deep breath before entering back into the main area.
