‘’Ladies, it’s nice to meet you.’’ The man says while shaking Camila’s hand. ‘’I’m Nick Jonas.’’ He shakes Lauren’s hand as well before squatting down to greet Kyano.

‘’And you must be Kyano. I’ve heard a lot about you, it’s really nice to meet you.’’ Kyano looks at him for a moment before reaching out to shake his hand carefully.

‘’Nice to meet you.’’ He answers politely before pulling his hand back and grabbing Lauren’s again, half hiding behind her leg.

‘’Kyano, I would really like to talk to your mothers for a while. Jesse proposed to take you downstairs to watch a movie with him. Is that okay with you?’’ Nick asks him, looking up at Lauren and Camila shortly.

‘’I wanna stay here.’’ Kyano answers and Camila gulps her panic and initial fear away before crouching down to be at eye-level with her son.

‘’Baby, remember our talk about Brody?’’ she asks him carefully, feeling as though every move she makes is being watched by this Jonas guy. Kyano nods at her, looking scared to leave his moms with this stranger. ‘’Well, we need to talk to Mister Jonas now too. About Brody.’’

Kyano looks up at the man once more before looking back at his mother. Lauren sends him a reassuring smile and a nod before Camila continues.

‘’Wanna make a deal?’’ she asks and Kyano nods. ‘’Jesse is going with you to the movie room downstairs and you can watch any movie you want with him. And then as soon as we’re done here, mommy and I will come pick you up again and we can watch Finding Nemo together, like you wanted.’’ Camila proposes and Kyano thinks about it for a few moments.

‘’Come on big guy, I bet you want some popcorn with the movie, huh?’’ Jesse speaks up, his usual relaxed and confident smile playing on his lips, reassuring both moms and their son easily.

‘’Okay.’’ He answers, throwing himself forward in Camila’s arms to hug her goodbye. Camila’s face contorts for a moment in pain because of her ribs, but she hugs him back immediately. Lauren leans down to hug him as well and Kyano looks relaxed again, the sudden scare of a stranger being in their room wearing off.

‘’Alright let’s go then. See you later guys.’’ Jesse says to his moms before lifting Kyano into the air and playfully throwing him over his shoulder to leave the room. Kyano’s laughs are heard until Jesse closes the door behind them.

‘’Alright, let’s all take a seat.’’ Nick says, sitting back down next to Ally. Camila nods, kissing Lauren’s cheek quickly before lying back down on her hospital bed, Lauren sitting right next to her on the mattress and holding her hand as they look at Ally.

‘’Lauren, Camila, as you’ve heard from Dinah and Normani, there were some questions from Child Services regarding the recent events with Kyano.’’ Ally starts off. ‘’In the beginning it was mostly about gaining information about Kyano and his family situation, since you two weren’t together at the time and it was unconfirmed whether or not Brody was his father.’’

Lauren and Camila both nod, Camila looking at Nick more than at Ally. She’s trying to figure out if he’s here to take their son away from them or not, but his facial expressions don’t give anything away at all. And it only makes her more nervous, her panic starting to rise again steadily. And the feeling of Lauren's clammy hand in hers tells her that her girlfriend is just as nervous about all of this as she is.

‘’From a DNA-test we’ve performed, I can confirm to you guys that Brody is indeed Kyano’s real father.’’ Ally shares and for some reason it feels like another hard hit in the face. They’ve known for a while now, yet having it confirmed hurts all the same.
