Your power
I feel it pounding in my chest,
A steady rhythm:
Once,
Twice,
And more to come.
I am alive,
But not living.
It's needless beating
Never stops
Only in your demand.
It's heavy,
Almost too lazy to keep going,
When you aren't near.
It provides me with oxygen
Yet I only release my breath,
When I am with you.
To make your breath
My source of life.
I wonder,
How it could possibly still work,
When it was yours,
For as long as I can remember.
