The burned 'Happy Ending'

A book lay in front of me,
Unique and different, I guarantee,
It was all that was left,
The rest was a victim of theft.

We used to be,
Friends, lonely souls that found each other,
Now we are just another
Dusted book that lacks in glee.

Was it your intention,
To take a part of me away,
Keep it to yourself in a whole other dimension,
Let me bleed, and give your 'Okay'?

Love can't be forced, but it can be torn,
Through a single reckless thorn,
Ripping through the pages,
That should have been for ages.

Now it starts with: 'Once upon a time, I made a mistake...',
And maybe it is best,
For my hearts sake,
To let it rest.

I am burning the blank spaces,
That carried a promising ending,
Until there are no traces,
No mercy, no pretending.

I guess some books don't tell the whole story,
Maybe the glory or maybe the gory,
And in the end it's just another book,
From time to time I look.

But now it just reminds me,
That I should have ran, when he told me to flee.
