I saw him seating on the white sand of the beach. I walked up to him and sat beside him. He turned to look at me.
"Hey." I smiled.
He just returned my smile and continued staring at the sunset.
"Beautiful, isn't it?" I asked trying to start a conversation.
"What's the matter?" he asked back.
"Huh?" I looked at him, trying to act confuse.
"Come on, Princess, I know you want to say something."
I chuckled. "You know me too well."
"So are you gonna tell me?"
I sighed. How am I supposed to tell my 18 year old best friend that I'm in love with him? He's popular. Okay, not good-popular in the eyes of adults. He's got a rep for breaking hearts and has failing grades. But he's also the star quarterback of football team and girls are drooling over him. I actually have no clue what a quarterback does but it must be pretty important because his team looks up to him. Can you believe it? I've been his best friend since forever and I always watch his practices and games. But I never really got what he does. And how will he fall for me? Yes, I'm popular too. And good-popular. I've always been on top. I'm the student council president and editor of our school newspaper. Some even think I'm a head-turner kind of pretty. Sure I have green eyes and curves are dying for. But...no one ever asked me out so I don't believe that. To top it all off, I'm only 16. I was accelerated.
'"Princess, you're daydreaming again."
I snapped out of my thoughts as I heard Chase laughing lightly. He put his arm around me and I leaned on his shoulder. Butterflies gathered in my stomach. I cleared my throat.
Chase looked at me "You okay?"
I nodded. "I have to tell you something."
Chase stared at me,waiting.
"Uh..Chase Alexander Court, I'm in lo---"
"You and I could be like Sonny and Cher, honey and bears, you and I could be like Aladdin and Jasmine, let's make it happen like la la la la la la la..."
I woke up to the sound of the ringtone. Chase's ringtone to be exact. He wanted that song as his ringtone and when I asked why, he gave me the pathetic reason, "Because I said so.". i lazily opened my eyes and picked up my phone from the bedside table.
"hello?" I answered.
"Good morning, Princess." I could almost picture him smiling.
"Don't give me that good morning crap when you disturbed my sleep."
"Oooooh, feisty. I'm surprised no one knows how mean you are. Your everyone's angel." he chuckled.
"What can I say? You bring out the worst in me, best friend." I muttered sarcastically.
"Come on Princess, get up. We're gonna be late for the first day of school."
"I'm already up." I lied.
"Really?"
"Sure."
"Is that why you're still under your covers?"
"What!?" I sat up and looked at my window which was facing his.
I saw him in his black boxers. Hell, I can stare at his eight-pack all day.
"Want me to take a picture for you?" he teased.
"Shut up. Will you drive me to school?" I asked changing the subject.
