We went back to our lunch table. Rose winked at me and I giggled.
"What's so funny, princess?" Chase asked as he took his seat beside me.
I just shook my head and smiled.
But there was something off. There was still tension in the air.
I looked at Rose and she stared from Chase to Jake.
I stared at the two.
Chase was glaring at Jake and Jake was doing the same. Since I was seating between them, I could feel their glares to each other.
I laughed out loud.
They both turned to look at me, confused.
"You guys are acting like kids. You delight me." I smiled.
Jake smiled back. "Anything for you, babe."
Chase scowled and put his arms around me, bringing me closer to him.
I rubbed his arms to ease the tension in his body. Jake just chuckled, knowing he's pissing Chase off. Rose and Amber were watching us silently while the football team was completely oblivious to what's happening around them.
Chase slowly relaxed as I held his clenched fist.
I gave him a smile and he smiled back at me.
Chase began playing with a strand of my hair while I was sipping the juice he bought for me.
"Hey Sam." Jake called my attention.
"Yes?"
"Can you walk me to Math class?"
I turned to look at Chase who was glaring at me and I know that if I say yes, he'll kill me later. But I took my chances.
"Sure. Math's my last period too." I shrugged.
Then Chase pulled the strand of my hair he was playing with. I yelped.
Chase was caught off guard. I glared at him. But knowing Chase, he wasn't aware that he pulled my hair. He was doing it subconsciously,
"So-sorry, princess. I didn't mean to. I swear. I forgot I was holding your hair."
I rolled my eyes. "Fine. Forgiven."
Jake spoke again.
"I'm sorry you had to walk me to all my classes today." he smiled apologetically.
"It's no big deal."
"No, let me make it up to you." he offered.
"If you insist."
"How about I treat you to coffee later after class?"
Chase coughed loudly, reminding me that I had to go home early.
"Uh...I can't, sorry."
"Oh." his face fell.
"How about tomorrow?" I asked.
"Sure!" his face lit up.
Chase coughed louder this time.
"You okay?" I asked Chase.
"You can't and won't go out with him. Not today, not tomorrow or any other day." he whispered furiously.
"It's not a date." I stated simply.
"If you're going out with him alone, it is."
"How about I'll bring Rose and Amber?"
He sighed and I knew I won.
