Sam's POV (She's back!!)
We walked down the stairs. Every step we made feels like we a walk down the grave. I was nervous as hell but I tried not to show it. It's not the time to cower. Chase needed me and my support. I had an urge to reach out and hold Chase's hand but I was afraid we'd get caught. I walked to the living room and as Chase told me earlier, my parents were home with my little sis.
"Dad?!" I squealed.
Dad turned around and looked at me. His face lit up and he opened his arms for me. I jumped and wrapped my arms around him. I've always been a Daddy's girl. He hugged me tight.
My Mom walked to us and hugged me too. She pulled away after a moment but I remained in my Dad's arms as we sat on the couch. My little sister, Michelle, looked up at me and I hugged her too. She sat on my lap. My Mom sat beside Dad while I sat on his other side. Chase sat opposite to us, watching us and smiling at me.
"Are you okay, baby?" I asked Michelle.
"No. I'm nervous as hell." Chase replied, to my surprise.
There was an awkward silence as Chase realized it was Michelle I was asking, not him. Stupid Sam! I shouldn't have called Michelle "baby". It was my nickname for Chase. I could see Chase's cheeks turn red. I would have laughed at him but I was blushing too. It's just like we got caught. My parents probably realized that Chase thought he was the one I was talking to because I said, "baby". And they're probably thinking that no best friends call each other "baby". It's for couples. I don't think I ever called him "baby" in front of my parents. I coughed.
"You're such a dope, Chase. I wasn't talking to you, dumbass." I laughed awkwardly.
To my relief, my parents joined me in laughing.
"Uh, sorry. I was thinking out loud." he coughed.
"So...how are you doing, kiddo?" Dad asked.
"Great. I've been quite busy with school. We're supposed to publish the newspaper soon but some writers haven't even passed their articles to me yet. Then the student council agreed that we should form a committee who would be in charge of our senior prom. We would have let the student council be in charge of it. But we thought some students probably want to get involved with prom too, right? So maybe next week, we'll be asking who'd like to sign up and be a part of the committee."
"That's a great idea, honey." Dad praised.
I smiled in return.
"Who's your date to prom, honey?" mom asked.
I froze. I had chickenpox during the Juniors' prom so I didn't have to worry who I'd go with. Chase didn't go too. He stayed with me. And if the school parties required a date, my Dad and Chase wouldn't allow me to go. So basically, I've never been to a party with a date. But surely, the prom would be different. I had Chase.
My Dad stiffened at my Mom's question.
"Do you need a date for prom?" Dad asked.
"Dad, it's the prom. You surely have a date when you had your prom, right?"
"Your Mom was my date."
"Awww." I smiled.
"And that's when we made you so don't expect me to be excited about you going to the prom with a guy." Dad muttered.
Chase coughed to hide a laugh. Of course, Dad thought I was still a freaking virgin. He had no idea I got a boyfriend. He was worried I'd have sex on our prom. Well, if only he knew that I already had sex even before our prom.
