Jake drove me home that night and I was nervous as hell. Chase would kill me for going to Jake’s house without asking permission. But I wasn’t expecting it either anyway. It’s not like I expected to get hit by a car while sulking because I just lost the guy I love.

Jake pulled out on our driveway.

“So…” I started.

“Uh, yeah.”

We chuckled.

“Well, this is awkward.” I smiled.

“I know, right?”

I nodded.

“I just watched you like a stalker.” He whispered too softly I wasn’t even sure if I was meant to hear it.

“Watched me?”

His eyes widened as he realized that I heard him.

“What is it, Jake?”

“Well…when I said that I’ll leave, actually, I didn’t. I was watching you the whole time.”

“You did?!” I felt my cheeks heat up.

“Uh yeah, I’m sorry. I kinda felt like a stalker for watching you secretly so I left after like 5 minutes.” He bowed his head in embarrassment.

But I was just as embarrassed as him.

I mean he watched me the whole time. He saw crying. He saw me watching them with envy.

“On the brighter side, we’re even now.” I smiled at him.

‘Huh?”

“You’ve watched me like a stalker while I was watching Chase and Amber like a stalker. That makes the two of us a stalker.” I giggled.

He joined me in laughing.

Then we heard a door slam.

Our attention turned towards the noise.

Uh-oh.

It was Chase, his arms were crossed in front of his chest. His eyes were tight.

I felt a sense of déja vú.

“I think I need to go now.” I said as I was about to open the door.

“Hey Sam, wait!”

“What?”

“I’ll lead you to the door.”

I chuckled. “You’re so old-fashioned, Jake.”

He just smiled in return.

“Anyway, I’m sorry. As you can see, there’s a dragon waiting for me.”

“Then let me get my armor, I’ll save you from the dragon.”

“What am I here, a damsel in the distress?”

“Yes and I’m your prince.”

“Not so fast, mister. You need to give me your application form first.”

“Then I’ll give it tomorrow.”

I laughed.

The  door on my side suddenly opened.

“Get inside the house now. We’ll talk there.”

Jake glared at chase. They were staring down at each other.

“Stop it, guys. Jake, I’ll see you tomorrow.”

He nodded as I went out of his car.

We waited until Jake drove off.
