Chase POV
“For the twentieth time, Court, get up now!” Rose demanded.
“I have to agree with her, Chase. Get up now. This is not time to sulk.” Amber convinced me.
“I’m not sulking!” I defended myself.
Imagine my shock when Amber and Rose barged in my room at 5:30 in the morning, telling me to get up and get ready because we would ruin Sam’s date. Okay, I wasn’t happy with Sam’s date, it’s not like I would deny that. But I wasn’t that cruel to ruin her date with Jake, my brother.
“Oh, so hiding under your blanket and feeling sorry because you’re not the one Sam’s dating isn’t called sulking?” Rose rolled her eyes.
“You’re too judgmental.” I retorted.
“Whoa, coming from the guy who thinks of me as a slut.”
“I never said that.”
“But you always think of me that way.”
“Whatever. I’m not going to ruin my best friend’s date with my brother.”
“Oh please, Court. Stop being so dramatic, will you? It’s not like the ‘bros before hoes’ rule applies here.”
“It does. He’s my brother.”
“Chase, reality check, you’re not close enough to Jake that you’re willing to give up Sam.” Amber reasoned.
I thought about it. Well, I had to admit she’s right. I wasn’t that close to Jake to consider giving up Sam. He’s my brother and all. But Sam’s still more important than him. I mean, Sam has been with me ever since we were kids. She was there through every phase in my life. Even if we have the same blood running through our veins, Jake could never be compared to Sam. But does it mean I had the right to ruin their date? I mean, it’s just one date. One date wouldn’t kill me…okay, it would. But Sam might hate me forever if she finds out that I’d sabotage their date.
“What the hell is your issue, Court?”
“I don’t want to ruin their date.”
“We’re not going to ruin it. We’ll just give Sam a reason not to date him again.” Amber snickered.
“You girls are mean.”
“C’mon Chase. It’s already 9am. We’ve been talking for 3 hours and a half. Give us a favor and just get up.” Amber said, clearly exasperated with me.
“Okay. Let’s make a deal. Get up now and we wouldn’t do anything to sabotage her date.” Rose said.
I quickly sat up. “Really?”
They both nodded.
