chapter 16: the preliminary rounds

Your pov

I stood in shock as i listened to them. 'Princess? I'm not the last of my clan? B-but I was told they all died.' I thought and looked at Naruto who looked completely clueless at this point.

"Lets go... we need to go with the others and go to the next exam." I whispered as we went to the next exam.

I stood in line with my team, the curse mark on my shoulder was aching, sending pain throughout my body. At this point, I felt like falling over and crying out in pain. I heard Sakura and Sasuke arguing behind me, but I did nothing. From what I knew, they didn't know of my curse mark and I wanted to keep it that way. Then, I heard the proctor for the exam speak, occasionally coughing.

My (e/c) eyes widened as I heard this was a preliminary round. "So.. if I fail this... I can try again next year." I whispered before I frowned, wanting to pass this so I could become a ninja of the hidden leaf.

Then we looked at the board and seen the two names. I nodded and went to the sidelines where everyone waited until we fought. My hand was on my katana as I waited for something to happen. My eyes closed for a moment before I felt someone shaking me.

"Princess, time to get up. Your up next." They whispered in my ear I opened my eyes and slapped them. My eyes focused on three hidden sand ninjas, a red haired one holding his cheek. "The match hasn't even begun and you're already hurting me!" Akuhei said and grinned and pulled me to my feet.

"Good luck, Princess." The other two said as if robots. I smiled and nodded before I jumped into the arena, I could hear encouraging shouts and others that made me frown. Then, a certain red headed male jumped into the arena. He lifted his head, showing his amber and scarlet eyes.

"So I'm fighting you." I said quietly, nodding slightly as I put my hands on my katana. "Good luck, Akuhei." I said to him.

Akuhei nodded, "and the same to you Princess. I'll try not to hurt you very much." He said. The air around him was thick with the intent to kill, his eyes showed the same thing.

"BEHIN!" I heard the proctor say, I grinned and jumped back, drawing my sword and pointing it at him.

"So, I have a deal to make with you, Princess." The male said to me, I frowned slightly. "I let you win, and you let me bring you home. Where you will take your place as the Princess of our clan. Where you will be surrounded by your family." He said with a smile.

The area around me fell silent and started to feel sick to my stomach at the mention of family. "Or... i defeat you ane bring you home by force where you will still be with your family." He said.

I growled and narrowed my eyes at the person in front of me. "Don't you dare say my family again! Their dead! And now I have no family. My friends are the closest thing to a family I've got!" I yelled at him before I charged, with the intent to kill this person. "I never want to see you here again! This is my home and I'll protect it with everything I've got." I whispered into his ear as I caught him in a water prison jutsu.

As he let out the last of his breath I let him out and he fell to the ground unconscious. He had multiple cuts all over him thanks to my sword. Though, I also had cuts allover myself thanks to him. Once the winner was decided I went back to my seat at the wall and sat down. Akuhei's team mates walked up to me and stood in front of me. "Congratulations on your win Princess! We knew you could do it!" They said before Naruto pushed through me and hugged me, Sakura following his lead and Sasuke just watching.

"You did it (Y/n)! I'll treat you to ramen tonight!" Naruto said. Sakura nodded, "can I join you two? I want to celebrate too." We nodded and looked at Sasuke with eager eyes as we waited for his answer. "Fine. Only cause you want me too." He grumbled and gave a small smile. I cheered and hugged them. "Hey, can we bring these two? I kind of want them to come with since I want to show some hospitality." I said as the other three looked at the two hidden sand ninjas.

"Yeah! Lets bring them!" Naruto said and smiled beforw he added, "Oh what about Akuhei?" He asked and looked at me.

"Fine. Lets bring him too. Since he did help me get here." I said and smiled before I stood up and looked at who was fighting. Then, he were told in one month the last exam would take place. I nodded before we all went to get some food, though we had to change locations due to having to many people. So we went to my house and ordered the ramen.

Once everyone was gone, I cleaned up and went to my room and laid down on my bed before I had a shower and changed into my pajamas and went to bed.

But... when I woke up I was no longer in my room, I was hanging over someone's back as they ran, away from the leaf village. Away from my home. Away from my friends and all the memories of my family...
