"It's raining,"
"Yes, I can see that babe... "
You glanced out at the pouring rain in Seoul as you waited for coffee at your favorite cafe near your apartment. A grumpy Jackson was on the other side of the phone, complaining about your picnic date that would now need to be put on hold due to the weather.
"I was looking forward us lying down on a blanket in the park and eating pepero and kissing and drinking lemonade and then kissing more..."
"We can still do that," You laughed, picking up your coffee and taking a sip. The drink warmed you up as you stepped out into the cold rain.
"I know, but it was gonna be so romantic! And I've always wanted to sleep under the stars." You couldn't help but giggle at his high-pitched whiny voice. It wasn't a rare sound for you.
"Well we can wait for better weather to go on our picnic, and for now we can have a romantic night in with movies that we won't even watch, and not because we're sleeping. How does that sound?"
"I mean, that movie parts sound good..." You knew him so well, "Do you promise we'll go on our picnic as soon as possible?"
"Of course, babe. I'll even make cookies for dessert."
"I love you Y/N."
"I love you too Jackson," You laughed.
On the short walk home you couldn't get your mind off of how disappointed Jackson had sounded. Of course you'd also been incredibly excited for the picnic, but it was something that would still be wonderful even if you had to push it back a bit. But Jackson had been working so much in the previous few weeks that you wanted to do something special for him, which was the plan for the picnic. It wasn't often that he had a night off followed by the next morning off, which meant you could spent the night together, whether that meant something sexual or not.
Something he said stuck in your head. I've always wanted to sleep under the stars. Thunder cracked above you and punctuated the fact that you couldn't make that wish of Jackson's come true.
The wheels continued to turn in your head as you arrived home and threw off your wet jacket. Jackson texted you and said he would be at your house later that evening with chinese food and movies, and you knew you had to come up with something to make that night special for him.
All throughout your day you kept Jackson in the back of your mind, playing through ideas to surprise Jackson with until one practically hit you in the face, and you knew what you would do.
It took a run to the craft store and a few hours, but you knew it was worth it as you admired your handiwork. The doorbell rang and you rushed to open the door to your boyfriend's rain-soaked but smiling face.
"Hey babe," Jackson said before leaning in for a kiss.
"Hey cutie," Your boyfriend walked in with a bag full of chinese food in the little containers that you thought were so cute, and soon you were silently eating on the couch in your living room, enjoying the food too much to speak.
"How was your day?" You asked unattractively with a mouth full of food.
"Good," Jackson said in similar fashion, "But I'm very glad to have an evening off."
When you finished dinner the two of you cuddled on the couch and started some random comedy movie, however you were paying much more attention to your boyfriend. It took everything in you to pull away during the heated make out session, but you had a mission.
"Jackson," You whispered against his lips.
"Yes?"
"I have a surprise for you."
"Oh?" Jackson's lips trailed down your neck towards the collar of your shirt. You sighed inwardly and tried desperately to hold onto your conviction.
"Come with me," You jumped off the couch while Jackson moaned in complaint, but you grabbed his hand and yanked him towards your bedroom anyway.
"I hope this is leading where I think it's leading," He commented behind you. You could hear the smirk in his voice.
"Lay down," You ordered, earning a playful wink and smug expressionfrom your boyfriend. He laid down across your bed and you immediately joined him, staring up at the ceiling beside him.
"This isn't exactly what I thought you were going to do when you told me to lay down," Jackson commented after you said nothing more.
You reached to turn off the lamp on the bedside table that was providing the only light in the room. Within seconds the two of you were surrounded by darkness.
Above you was a galaxy of glow-in-the-dark stars stuck all across your ceiling. Some were big and some were small, and a few were formed into a big and a small dipper. They glowed a comforting fake green that reminded you of having similar stars in your childhood bedroom. You reached over to squeeze Jackson's hand in yours.
"You said that you wanted to fall asleep under the stars," You spoke softly.
You glanced over to find Jackson's eyes flickering around, his mouth falling open slightly.
"It's beautiful." He whispered.
"They're just fake stars," You said bashfully. "I didn't have much to work with."
Jackson flipped onto his side to face you, and you wondered if everyone else realised that he was much more beautiful than any star.
"I love it," Jackson said, his eyes making you melt. "I absolutely love it, and I love you."
"I love you too, babe."
Jackson leaned down to place his lips against yours. That night turned out much better than the two of you could have ever imagined, thanks to the thunderstorm that continued to rage on outside.
