My Little World

Chapter Seven

Tara's POV

It was time for me to go to the fundraiser that Xavier invited me to. I got took a nice shower and got dressed in a beautiful gown Jessica and I bought for this event. I let my hair fall in waves and it a little makeup to make me look presentable.

I heard the buzzer of my home informing me that my ride has arrived.

I kissed my baby goodbye and gave Jessica the necessary details that she has to follow while I'm not here. Emma is really smart and she knows how to manipulate Jessica with her cute little smile.

He drove towards the venue. We reached the venue and I looked at it in awe. It was beautifully decorated with red and white flowers I guess it was the theme. I step out and move towards the entrance. I spotted Xavier standing there talking on phone.

He was wearing a black tux. I swear I might have drool a little seeing the sight of him like this. He looked like some model who came straight from the shoot or something. It's really hard for me to not think about his perfect body when he is looking like this.

"Wow, you look stunning." he said looking into my eyes.

"Well you cleaned up pretty nice too"

He laughed and offered his arm "Shall we?"

"Um yeah. If I go with you it might look like we're on a date."

"Right" he nodded "I'm going in. You follow me"

I followed him confusingly. I didn't know if I offended him or something but I don't want him or anybody have any bad ideas about us whatsoever.

I followed Xavier and I could feel all the eyes on me. Men were practically eye rapping me and women were secretly judging. It was filled with people with incredible amount of wealth and judgment. I was starting to feel a little uncomfortable considering I was there lastest interest of talk.    

"Are you okay?" Xavier

"I'll be as soon as these people stop looking at me like that" I said mentioning all the pry eyes on me.

"You needn't feel self conscious. These people are nothing other than superficial people. They're here to show off their wealth and fortune and gossip about the things that aren't important. Don't let them get you."

"I know but if you think that way then why invite them?"

"It's a fundraiser and I need people with a lot of fund so that I can raise them. Moreover this is something my Dad used to do way before I joined and it now kind of a tradition." I nodded

We walked and I spotted Sam I walked up to him and greeted him. Sam introduced me some successful businessmen whom he had work with and their wives. I understand why Xavier felt the way he did about these people. They're superficial and snotty and highly judgemental.

I felt a tap on my shoulder I turned around to see a beautiful blonde in a beautiful dress and a plastered smile just like mine.

"Sapphire Brook" she said offering her hand

"Tara Verma" I shook her hand and gave her a slight nod.

"Are you Xavier's date?" She asked doubtfully.

"Oh no I'm actually the head designer of his new project. I'm not his date or anything"

She smiled a genuine smile "I'm sorry I just saw everybody gawking at you so I thought you may be Xavier's date."
