Tara's POV
I sat outside crying and remembering the day I could never forget.
"Tara I thought I raised you better. I always supported you I loved you more than your sister I fought with your father to send you out to study and you show up with such disgrace" her mom shouted at her.
"I understand your concern but think about it, Ma. How can I just abandoned a child like that? She needs a family, a support, she needs me now more than ever since her father is not in the picture anymore. This isn't some impulsive irrational decision. I want to be a mother. Just talk to Dad. Please do it for me."
She sighed "You're still so young. You've your whole life ahead. You've a career to look after. Don't you want to do that? I understand you're being emotional after your breakup and you feel responsible but you don't know how difficult it is to be a mother and more so a single mother. We care about you that's why we don't want to give up your whole life."
"Yes, it is difficult and I obviously don't know anything about being a mother but I feel in my heart that I want to do it. I held her Ma and I felt the hope for life, for something special. It isn't her fault that her dad is a royal class jerk who left her and me because he was too scared of a life where he is a father. Trust me, I'm terrified as well but I know that I want to do it and all I'm asking for a little support. I want you to talk to Dad, explain him, try to reason with him. He'll listen to you. I need you guys, now more than anything." Tara held her mother's hand trying to explain her the desperation she felt.
She loved her daughter more than anything in this world but she has never gone against her husband. She was the defination of a perfect wife and she knew if her daughter wouldn't understand, she'll lose her daughter forever.
"What about the society? People around us, how're we supposed to explain this to them? I understand you're overwhelmed with everything but you've understand what your father is trying to say. He's just trying to save us from the humiliation and torment. Just let go of the thought and come back to your family."
"I'm overwhelmed but I'm not unsure. I understand everything you're saying and maybe after some time you can understand what I'm saying too but for now she needs me. I'm all she has and just like you said I can't let the society be a judge all the time. She's my daughter and I'll raise her with the respect she deserves. I'm going back, to my family, to my daughter."
She turn to leave when she heard her mother speak "No matter how much love and respect you give her it'll never change the truth. She'll always be a disgrace no matter how much you try to cover up." She sighed and continued "if you walk out of that door today with this decision remember to never come back. You're dead to us and we're dead to you as well."
Tara turned with tears in her eyes. It wasn't just heartbreaking, it felt as if someone ripped her heart out in one swift motion but she won't let the pain effect her decision. Her daughter needs her so much "I love you and I'll always love you no matter what you say. I may be dead for you but you'll always be my parents. Till the end of time and I'm not going to forget that."
She walked out of her house and from the lives of the two people she has loved most.
"Tara" I heard someone call. I look up and see my sister standing in front of me. She sat next to me and hugged me.
I hugged her and kept crying until my eyes refuse to let anymore tears.
"This is all my fault. I should have known this would happen if you come yet I kept forcing you to come. I feel awful. I'm really sorry."
