Tara's POV

We had to cut our trip short since Sapphire said she wasn't feeling well and she didn't want to be smother by her in-laws anymore so he asked Xavier to come back and I understood. I myself was missing Emma and wanted to see her.

I reached home and opened the door to find Emma colouring silently which was a rare sight in my life. She's never just too quiet unless she's doing something really interesting which requires all her attention.

I put my luggage down quietly not trying to break my daughter's concentration but it was waste since she whipped her head on the little sound and frowned. Her little yet adorable frown turned into a toothy smile as soon as she saw me.

She came running and pulled her into my arms. "I missed you so much baby"

She giggled "Me too, Mommy."

I pulled away "How was the wedding?"

She jumped up and down not being able to control her excitement. Jessica came out after hearing all the noises and waved at me.

"There was girl my age. She was the flower girl of the bribe. She look beautiful."

I pinched her nose "It's bride, sweetie. So you had fun?"

"Yes. Very much" she turned to Jessica and asked something that caught both of us off guard "When will you get marry? I want to be the flower girl and look pretty."

Jessica's smile faded at the mention of her wedding and she just gave a sad smile to Emma before going into her room.

"Honey, why don't you finish your drawing and show me?"

She nodded and resumed to her drawing.

I knocked Jessica's room and heard a faint come in. She was sitting on her bed with laptop in her lap and papers all around her which clearly meant that she was trying to keep herself busy to not think about the worst day of her.

Around three years ago Jessica was supposed to get married but her fiance left her on the wedding day. Emma was around one and I was just starting to work, it was havoc everyday and Jessica was a great help then. She would take Emma with her at home and keep her until I return. Some days she'll even stay the night to make sure I haven't killed myself with the lack of sleep. Her fiance didn't take all that in a good way.

He thought Jessica was getting way too involve in making sure my life is okay that she isn't thinking about hers. It believed that it was my mistake to decide to be a mother at such a young age and I should figure out what to do or how to do rather than depending on people. Jessica made him understood that it was just the beginning, I was adjusting to be a mother and soon I'll be okay and won't get overwhelmed easily. He said he understood, he even apologized to me but then on their wedding day, he left. He said he doesn't want to share a future with me and daughter too, he was too young for that kind of responsibility.

"Hey" I said softly "I'm sorry for what Emma said earlier"

Even though Jessica has said million times that she doesn't blame us I can't help but feel a little guilty. He did leave because he was afraid my daughter and I will be a burden to him. He wasn't completely wrong in thinking like that. If I were him-

"Stop. Just stop those thoughts where you blame yourself and Emma for no reason. He didn't left because of you guys, he left because he couldn't imagine a future with those kind of responsibilities. It was just easier for him to leave and blame you than accept the truth."

I sighed and sat on the bed "I know but I can't help but think of it wasn't for me asking your help with my daughter you would've been married and happy with your family and you could've had the life you dreamed about."
