Chapter Thirteen

Tara's POV

I was working on some changes that I've made for Xavier to see when I got a Skype call from Meera.

M: Hello sister

T: Hey! How're you guys doing?

M: We're good. How's work?

T: Busy, stressful and I love it.

M: How's my niece doing?

T: Really good but she missing Ayaan. Ask him to talk to her soon.

M: Ayaan misses her too. I'll make him talk soon.

T: Yeah. Why did you call me at work? What's the life and death situation here?

M: Oh come on! I was just missing my baby sister. Can't I just miss you so much and call you out of blue?

T: I'm busy, Meera so if you've nothing else to say then goodbye.

M: Okay okay. I called to ask when are you coming home? Did you decide yet?

T: We've already discussed this and I'm not having this conversation again with you.

"Hey. You wanted to see me" Xavier peeked in and looked up from the laptop, forgetting to shut it.

"Yeah.." I trailed and he entered my cabin.

"So you excited about our date tonight?" Xavier asked with his jolly smile and Meera cleared his throat, obviously trying really hard to control herself.

"Uh. I'm talking to my sister.. so how about I meet you in your office?"

"Yeah. Sure" he said and left.

M: Boyfriend?

T: Not yet.

M: So potential. Right? Great. Bring him home too. I wanna meet.

T: Do you even hear yourself when you say such things or they just come out of your mouth and you don't care?

M: Oh come on. It can't be that bad.

T: Seriously! What do think is going to happen when Mom will see me with him and Emma? Or he'll know about Emma and everything that followed?

M: So he doesn't know. Has he even met Emma?

T: Yes he has met her. They're practically best friends. Some days my daughter like him more than she likes me.

M: Do even plan on telling him ever?

T: Yes. Not yet. I don't know maybe after some time when I'm sure.

M: Okay whatever but listen just come home an-

T: Meera I'm swamped with work and I don't have time to have this conversation on repeat.

I turned off the laptop and went to see Xavier to get the approval on my new changes. We discussed some more changes and adjustments as required and requested by him.

I took and all my notes and stood up to leave when he called me. He got up from his chair and stood in front of. He came dangerously close to me and I could feel my heart racing faster than usually.

I felt his warm minty breath on my cheek and I clutched my notes really hard, trying not to lose control. "So.. I was saying.. you look very pretty today.." he trailed and his lips were just a few centimeters away from claiming mine.
