Phil finished high school with a C as his lowest A Level. His parents were supposedly proud of him even if they told him over text message.
They had also hired another 'maid', if you will. They weren't there to tidy, only to make sure it was legal for them to be away. Phil didn't like her. Lilly. She was unbelievably rude but only visited for around ten minutes every morning as he was getting ready for school.
Phil hadn't chosen a college or university yet and had decided on taking a gap year.
He was back at the beginning. He had no idea where he was going with his life and only had Chris there for him. Phil was still hurt by what Dan did, even a year later. He thought it was pathetic. Chris was okay after a month and a half and had come back from summer as his usual excitable self. Phil didn't. He was quiet, always tired and found his schoolwork incredibly difficult. His grades had started to slip but he had managed to pick them up towards the end of the year.
Despite all this, he didn't regret him. He didn't their late night text messages talking about the world and all its problems or where aliens may be hiding. He didn't regret falling in love with Dan, or letting him in, or lowering his walls. He regretted falling so deep, or letting him know everything, or telling him his deepest hopes and fears. He regretted letting him in and controlling him, making him believe that he truly loved him. He regretted that after all those nights, the laughs and smiles, all the tears, he made him believe that he wasn't enough.

Dan was going to Manchester University to study Law. He didn't really want to but that's what his parents wanted and it was a useful degree. He had got good levels in his A Levels, with his lowest grade a D.
He didn't talk to Phil, Chris or PJ anymore. He couldn't even look Phil in the eye and the guilt was destroying him. He was such a fucking idiot. He didn't even have reason.
He wanted to apologise to Phil but he knew Chris would beat him up. Maybe he deserved it. Of course he deserved it, he cheated on him for God's sake!
Dan still noticed the little things about Phil. His happy blue eyes were dull and grey. He always looked stressed out and his homework was usually handed in late. He hated seeing him like this but he couldn't do anything, it was all his fault. If he hadn't gone drinking that night he wouldn't've got tied up in anything. He'd still be with Phil and they'd all be okay.
And Dan hated that. He loved Phil so much.
