Phil looked up at the crowded room. He had decided to get a coffee at a newly opened coffee shop. He needed it. His sleeping pattern was all messed up and he was getting, on average, two hours of sleep at night. He looked up when he heard a familiar, mellifluous voice. (look at Oli using big words)

He looked at Dan in limerence. He froze, Dan hadn't noticed him yet so he could get out of there with no awkward apologies that would end in tears. Phil  stood up, leaving his coffee, and made a B-line to the door.

"Phil!" someone called after him but he didn't look back to see who it was.

He didn't look back at all and when he arrived home he went straight up to his room, ignoring his mum's greetings.

As soon as he walked into his room the tears spilt. He hated this. It'd been a year, he should be over him. He knew he should crumble over better things but have you seen the boy? He could bring the sun to its knees every night. Their ephemeral relationship caused Phil so much pain, even after all this time. Phil had become demure, quiet and very lonely. He didn't care. He regretted nothing, except putting all his trust into Dan and their evanescent affinity.

As he let the tears pour he was reminded of Dan's ineffable, deep brown eyes, but also of the nefarious activities that ended their relationship.

He decided to go to sleep so he could be up at night. He put on some old trousers and a random t-shirt. He laid, supine, and stared at the ceiling, his eyes flicking back and forth at the patterns.

He laid, oblivious to the world, for around an hour. When the sun was setting he decided to go on a walk. The park would be empty by the time he got there and he loved to walk around and look at the sun setting. He pulled on his black skinny jeans, a jumper and set off.

Dan decided to go on a walk. He usually hated walking but he wanted to clear up his mind.

Why had Phil run away from him?

Why did Phil have a coffee? He usually only had one in the morning.

Dan walked through the gate of the park that'd been left open. He hadn't aimed to go to the park, it was just where his feet had taken him. As he walked further into the park there were only a few shadowy figures, not many of them were taller than him just one person who was walking a few feet ahead of him. All of a sudden, they fell, tripped over thin air.

"Oh my god are you okay?" Dan exclaimed, rushing forward to help whoever it was that had fallen.

"Yeah, I'm f-...Dan?" Phil looked up into his dark honey-on-mocha eyes.

"Phil, oh my god, Phil." Dan was speechless.

Dan had so many things to say to him, yet, he couldn't say anything. He wanted to talk back so badly. Tell him that he could leave and move on with his life. Tell him that it wasn't fair, that he shouldn't be in pain because of him. That he should forget about him. He screwed up. But he didn't say anything.

"Phil..."

"Dan I-," Phil looked away, chewing on his bottom lip.

"Phil, please?" Dan asked.

"I can't Dan. I'm hurting. It hurts!" Phil said, loudly.

"I know it does Phil. I'm an ass. I cheated on you. Who the fuck does that?" Dan was angry at himself, "I'm a fucking idiot."

Phil nodded, "you are, Dan, a-and an apology and good looks can't help this one. You can't win every war, and you're certainly losing this one."

"I know, I've lost you,"

"Dan, al this crazy things you did, those crazy words, you left them running through my head and they're always there. They never leave. I don't sleep, I can't, I'm losing so much weight my parents think I'm anorexic. You've broken me."

These words brought tears to Dan's eyes. He'd broken the only person he'd ever truly loved. He couldn't help. He could just stand forty feet away watching him struggle, and that's enough to kill a person.

He let tears fall as he watched that beautiful boy walk away, wiping tears from his eyes.
