Three days later Phil took Dan back to the psychiatrist. This time, Phil went in with him.
Firstly, the doctor explained the symptoms and how important his pills were. Symptoms such as belittling and abusive voices, that convince you do cause harm to yourself or others, delusions, hallucinations, emotional and social withdrawal, and unexplainable and unpredictable behaviour. Rarer symptoms can include blackouts or memory time loss which explains why Dan completely forgot what happened when he was lost. Then he explained how the mental condition actually worked. There were a lot of statistics and most of them were scary.
Dan was at the peak age of vulnerability to the disorder, which was between 18 to 25, and was still in the prodromal period of schizophrenia where the symptoms and affects weren't full force yet, and he wouldn't be experiencing them all at the moment.
Things were about to get a whole lot worse.
