After being out in the rain for over five hours it was 9pm and pitch black outside, Dan called.
"Phil? I'm sor-"
"Don't apologise," Phil interrupted "I doubt you mean it."
"I do, Phil, I mean it," Dan said nonchalantly.
"I'm not coming back, I can't," Phil sobbed.
Dan took deep breaths, "you promised forever," he said quietly as tears flowed freely, "you said you wouldn't stop loving me," he had to sit down.
"I won't, I'll never stop loving you," he wasn't lying, "but I can't do this, I'm struggling."
"I'll do better for you, if that's what you need?"
Phil sighed, "that isn't what you mean, and you can't change, it's who you are. I don't want you to change for me,"
Dan let out a sob he'd been holding back, "okay, I can't make you stay with me, I'm bad for you. I understand. I'll always love you, I hope you have a good life and I hope you're happy, wherever life takes you."
Phil's breath was shaky and his voice cracked as he talked, "please remember to take your pills,"
