Dan looked at Phil's bruised face. He didn't deserve any of this.
"I love you, okay?"
Phil nodded slowly, "I love you too,"
"What happened?"
"I-I-I don't remember," Phil looked down, "I wanted to go on a walk, to clear my head. I was crossing that road to get to the park, you know the one where all the old people live? Then all of a sudden there was a dull pain in my leg and I was on the ground. They've got the guy, he's at the police station. He could face years because he tried to get away from the police."
Dan nodded, "how're you feeling?"
"Well, considering I have a broken rib and I fractured my leg, I'm doing okay despite the circumstances," Phil giggled softly but stopped when he felt a jolt of pain in his chest.
"I'll be in here for...at least another week," Phil explained.
Dan nodded curtly, "I'll wait with you if you want," he offered.
"No!" Phil said too quickly, "no, I cant keep you from school."
Dan nodded shortly. He was thinking about dropping out anyway. He hated everything about school and he wanted to change it all. And that's what he was going to do.
