Chapter 3

Manik Malhotra, a senior to Nandini who was in the second year of college. Tanu had informed her that he was the guy always in demand, be it in music, classroom, or in girls' bedroom. He had his magic on everyone and he knew it.

Nandini wandered through the corridors of space college searching for Manik, asking if anyone knows where his is. Being informed by one of the students, she went to the canteen searching for the one who messed up her life in a blink of an eye. She halted as soon as she saw him sitting with a bunch of friends and laughing. Walking over to him, she admired how perfect he looked. Never in her life she thought she could be admiring someone like this. His deep chocolate brown eyes in which she could drown, his prefect jawline, the way his hair is perfectly set, the smile for which anyone could die for, everything about him was perfect. He was looking even better in this broad daylight. 'Ughh, get a grip of yourself Nandu!!' She scolded herself.

She took a deep breath and stood directly in front of him getting his attention. As soon as their eyes met, Nandini thought she was getting lost in his beautiful eyes. He composed himself and sat straight with confusion clear on his face, waiting for her to continue.

'I- I need to ta-talk to you' she stammered being conscious of the attention she was getting from his whole group.

'about last night' she continued.

'Ohh, you are the girl from last night!' Exclaimed Cabir with a wide smile playing on his lips.

Nandini shot him a death glare at his unwanted comment. He only increased Nandini's irritation and the anger which she was controlling. The smile on Cabir's face faded as soon as he saw the anger in her building and turned his attention to his best friend who was sitting like a statue till now.

'Look, I am sorry. It was a misund-' Manik started.

'I know it was a misunderstanding but I don't really care about it now. The only thing I care about is that the warden is throwing me out of the hostel in 48 hours because of your "Misunderstanding" and I don't have a place to go as she is not even listening to me and it is all because of You!!!'

She finally took a breath after speaking the whole sentence with her clenched teeth and slammed her fist on the table gaining more attention from the people present in the canteen.

'You ruined my life. Ab mai kya karu?' she continued again, this time in a low voice.

'She really kicked you out?' Manik asked and burst out laughing. His friends also joined him and Nandini was having a tough time from punching his face.

'Was this the only thing he caught from all the things I said' she thought to herself.

'Tum has kyu rahe ho?' She asked again, and again gave a deathly glare to him and his friends due to which they composed themselves.

'To tum Humse kya chahti ho miss whatever' asked Alya giving her a bored look.

'I don't know tumlog kya karoge but I want you to solve my problem as it was because of you in the first place' she replied more calmly this time.

'How? Tumhe chahiye mai uss Dian ke pas jau? No waysss' Manik answered running his hand through his hair.

'Dusra koi hostel dekhlo' he suggested.

'Sabhi nazdiki hostels full hai' nandini said shaking her head.

'Then search a house for PG' He continued.

'Nahi, they are out of my budget and I am here on a scholarship'

'Mai kuch nai kar sakta hu, sorry' Manik said putting all her hopes in the gutter.

'Are bhai kyu nai kar sakta hai? Nandini tum Manik ke ghar reh sakti ho, haina guys?' Cabir interrupted.

'Off course ye sahi rahega Nandini jab tak tumhe hostel nahi mil jaata tum Manik ke ghar rehna' Mukti agreed with Cabir.

Nandini widened her eyes. She didn't expect this.

'Hum tumhe apne sath rakh lete lekin hum teeno apne apne partners ke sath rehte hai and it won't be comfortable for you' Mukti continued and Alya rolled her eyes.

'Na-nahi mai uske sath nahi reh sakti hu' Nandini replied in an instant.

'Well let me go and meet Dian' Manik said and already started going.

'I can't believe I am doing this' Manik thought while walking.

Nandini followed him and stood outside the warden's office as told by Manik and he went inside. After a few minutes, Manik came outside with a worried face and Nandini understood what would have happened inside.

'Kya hua? She asked as soon as he came in front of her.

'Nahi maani' he answered and It seemed Nandini lost all her patience she had from morning. A tear fell from her eyes and Manik got tensed.

'Hey, it's okay. You can stay at my house. I have an extra room. But please don't cry.' Manik replied bending down and reaching his face to the level of hers.

'You are going to pay for this stupid idea of yours Cabir' Manik thought already making a plan for his murder.

'Bu-but' Nandini started but Manik continued,

'I am serious, you are coming at my house. Start packing and come to my house by evening. Waise bhi you will have to come tomorrow so why not today. Give me your mobile number, I will text you the address'

Nandini was standing numb not knowing what to do. Manik took her mobile from her hand and called his number from her cell thus getting her number. He handed her mobile and turned to leave. ' I will be waiting' he whispered in her ears and left with a smile on his face leaving Nandini as she stood facing his retreating back.

'Nandu ye kaha phas gai tu. Ayiappa please Mera sath dena' she whispered and started to leave for her room as it was late afternoon and she had to finish her packing and shift her stuff at Maniks' before night.
