Chapter 4

Having no other option, Nandini along with Tanu started packing her stuff as she had to vacate as soon as possible.

' I can't believe you are gonna stay with him in the same house. You barely know him. Listen, I can lend you some money for the time being and you can retur-' Tanu tried to change Nandini's mind.

'Tanu, you know I don't need it. Ye paiso ki zarurat tujhe zyada hai. Mai scholarship pe aai hu but you have expenses to pay. It's okay jab zarurat hogi to tere paas hi aaugi na'

Tanu gave up 'Thik hai Nandu but plz be careful with that guy. Remember last time kya hua tha '

' I know, I will be careful don't worry. Waise bhi it's temporary, jab dusre hostel me Jagah hogi to mai shift hojaugi'. Nandini reasoned herself.

' kya pata kab jagah milegi hostel me' Tanu replied sadly.

'Tanu, tension mat le na. Waise bhi tune hi bola na logo pe trust karna sikh. Wohi kar rahi hu'

'Haa lekin kisi anjaan ladke ke sath jaake rehne ko nai bola' Tanu argued.

'Calm down girl! He seems a nice guy. Thoda attitude hai but aise decent lag raha hai' defended Nandini again.

'That's what we thought about maddy-' Tanu muttered to herself and stopped when she realised she she was saying.

Nandini froze. All her past came in front of her eyes as if it was yesterday that that incident happened.
' I am sorry Nandu mera wo matlab nai tha'

'It's ok.' Replied Nandini.

'Mai pehle wali Nandini nai hu Tanu. Ab mai pehlese Bohot strong hu' continued Nandini.

' I know. Aur mai bhi hu tere sath. So don't worry.' Tanu said wrapping her arms around Nandini and she hummed in response with a sad smile on her face.

After meeting the warden, Nandini and Tanu made their way to Manik's house. Tanu couldn't trust Nandini with Manik. He was still a strange. She wanted to see the house where they will be staying. It was not too far from college. Just a few minutes away. The building was named as galaxy apartments which contained 15 floors. According to the address in the msg which Manik sent, his house should be on the 7th floor.

Nandini and Tanushree got down from the taxi and were looking at the surroundings.

'You go ahead, I will look for someone to help with the bags' Tanu said.

Nandini nodded her head and made her way to the lift along with a small suitcase.

Taking in the surroundings, she went inside the lift and pressed 7th floor. When she reached, she looked for the flat no 701, which was just ahead.
She stood in front of the door, looking for the doorbell.

Gaining all her courage, she pressed the doorbell. No answer. Again she pressed and came a faint voice from the other side of the door 'coming'. Her heartbeat began to race faster by just hearing his voice.

As soon as the door opened, she stood still, with her mouth hung open. There stood Manik, bare chest, water dripping from his messy hair and nothing but just a towel around his waist.

'Hey'  he said.

'Aiyappaaa' she shouted and turned around, covering her face with her hands and breathing heavily.

'Oh, sorry I just came from a shower. You come in I will go and change.' Manik said before vanishing in his room.

Nandini turned around slowly and peeked for one eye if he was still there but to her relief, he wasn't. She entered the house, placing the bag in the corner, and started looking around the house.

'Hey' he greeted again from behind and she got scared for a second.

'Umm hey' she replied nervously.

'I thought you will take more time. So eager to see me?' Manik smirked.

Nandini just lowered her head with her red cheeks fighting a smile and thought for a reply.

'Ahh Packing was done early soo-'

'Okay, Is that the only bag you brought?'

'No, my friend is getting the remaining ones'

'Oh okay'

Just then they heard Tanu bringing the bags along with a watchman. Manik came forward to help them. After placing all the bags in the living room, they came and sat down on the sofa.

'Umm Manik this is Tanushree and Tanu this is Manik' Nandini introduced formally after they were seated.

Tanushree eyed Manik suspiciously. He was a handsome man which gave Tanu another reason to dislike him. Manik also just nodded at her. Maybe the feelings were mutual between them.

'Chal Nandu I have to leave, it's getting late. Tanu said getting up.

'Bye' said Nandini giving her a hug.

'Promise me you'll call whenever-'

'I will' smiled Nandini at her protective friend.

Tanu turned towards Manik who was watching them curiously. She stood there watching him with narrowed eyes which meant 'I have my eyes on you'. Manik stood as if he didn't care with a sly smirk on his face.

Nandini stood there between the two watching a Cold War between them. With that Tanu headed out leaving her best friend to deal with the monster.

'She's very protective of you' he said grabbing her attention from the door which she was staring at.
'Yeah, very much' Nandini smiled.

'Let me show you around' Manik said holding Nandini's hand and dragging her along.
