'So tell me about yourself ' he questioned her the same.
'Umm..I am from Mangalore and am here on a scholarship in space to complete my studies in management.' Nandini replied.
'You and your friend...what's her name... Haa Tanushree... Are very close friends?'
'Yeah, we were neighbours in mangalore and were in same school so became best friends. She's always there for me' Nandini said smiling.
'Yeah...I can see that. So what about your parents? They are in mangalore?'
Nandini was somewhat expecting this from him. She took some time before answering with her eyes watery.
'They are no more. Both of them died in a car accident when I was 10 and Rishu was 6. Since then, we live with with my Chacha Chachi and Amms, my grandmother.'
'Rishu?' He asked curiously.
'My brother' she replied.
'Oh okay' he nodded.
'Done?' She asked.
'Yeah...for now' he replied smirking.
She nodded.
'Ab Mujhe chalna chahiye. Am sleepy' she said glancing at the time and getting up.
'Yeah okay, goodnight' Manik also yawned.
Both of them retired to their room and tried to sleep thinking about each other. Nandini couldn't believe her life had taken such a drastic change. A few days before, everything was perfectly fine. She had her focus on studies and nothing else. She hadn't thought about any guy since that incident. That was the main reason she had come to Mumbai thinking changing surroundings could help her get over her past and was successful to a great extent.
But, from the time she has met Manik, his face isn't leaving her mind. She couldn't help but think about all the moments she had spent with him. The time when Manik misunderstood her as Soha and met her for the first time, both of them on the floor with Manik on top of her, when Nandini lost her balance but Manik caught her, both of them lost in each other's eyes.
All these incidents that happened in a matter of two days, came back as a flashback infront of her eyes. Flipping and turning, she tried her best to shoo away his thoughts and go to sleep.
Here, Manik's state wasn't any different. The same images were also in front of his eyes. He could believe he let a girl stay in his house. He had many flings but never let them come in his house. Only fab 5 were the one who could come. And now, she had the access to his house and maybe his heart but realisation was another matter.
...
Six in the morning, the alarm set by Nandini started buzzing which caused her to break the deep slumber she was in. Groaning, she switched off the alarm and snuggled more to her pillow. Suddenly, she got up as she realised the surroundings.
After she did her morning routine, she went towards the living room to find it empty. 'Manik must still be sleeping.' She thought.
Making her way to the kitchen, she started searching through the fridge and cabinets for the ingredients to make breakfast but found none. There was packets of instant food such as maggi, soups, etc. There were drinks in the fridge, milk and a box of cereal.
Cereal was one thing which she hated to the core. She had a habit of healthy breakfast at least so as to survive the whole day.
'I manage food myself' she remembered Manik's words. 'So this is how he manages' she thought.
Having no option, she thought to go to the nearest store to bring some necessary ingredients so that she could make a breakfast for herself. It was still 7 in the morning and college was at 10 so she had enough time.
Nandini came back after around half an hour to see the house still silent. He is a late sleeper. She noted.
Nandini had also purchased some veggies and other things which she could use for preparing meal as the kitchen literally had nothing.
Nandini started gathering the ingredients for omelette and started with her work. As she removed the cooked omelette from the pan and turned, she caught was off guard by seeing Manik standing, leaning on the wall with his arms crossed on his chest.
Manik looked like he just got up from the bed in his tracks and black vest. His messy hair falling on his forehead. His brown eyes filled with sleep and His jaw was covered in little stubble making him look more handsome. Nandini was checking him out, literally.
'Tum...tum kuch Bana rahi ho?' Manik asked in his sleepy voice.
'Umm...Haa I hope you don't mind. Maine omelette banaya hai. Pata nahi tha tumhe kya pasand hai to isiliye. Agar kuch aur chahiye to-'
'Omelette?' He said, his eyes twinkled with the name of it, a small smile reaching his face
Grabbing the plate which was on the kitchen table he made his way to the dining table and sat on the chair.
'I like omelette. Tum apne liye dusra banalo' he said already putting a morsel in his mouth.
Nandini had a small smile on her face looking at the Manik acting like a 5 year old kid. She made another one for herself and made her way to the dining table with two cups of coffee.
'This is awesome' he said with his head still down enjoying the food infront of him. Nandini smiled at him and kept on looking at him with awe.
'Tumhe nahi khana?' He asked bringing her out of her thoughts. He looked at her keenly waiting for her reply.
'Han...Haa kha rahi hu' she replied lowering her head and started eating.
After they were done and were sipping their coffee still sitting at the same place. Nandini cleared her throat gaining Manik's attention. He looked up at her raising his eyebrow and she started...
'I...I wanted to talk to you about something.' She said with a serious tone.
