the ten minute ride plus a short walk leads them to gangnam. yoongi has been here twice in his life and could hardly recall how it looked like the last time he visited.
from catalogues and news features, he can tell that the area's developed quite abruptly after the course of four years—since his latest stopover.
the district's one of the most commercialized and globalized parts of the country after all.
but yoongi wouldn't leave it all to his expectations because something's bound to surpass him if it involved gangnam.
the place just gets wilder and stuffier each time he sees it on television.
"where do you want to go?" namjoon nudges him slightly on the arm to get him out of his trance.
yoongi's been eyeing one of the purple led lights down the street that read "host bar" in which he guesses would involve drinks and a possible chaperone.
he's heard a lot about those types of places, though he's never really tried them out for himself. yoongi's unsure if he's curious enough to find out what goes on inside the place, either. it sounds too dicey.
when he looks up, namjoon has his hands in his jean pockets, his brows raised, and one side of his lip tugged to the side.
"there are too many places to choose from. you go ahead and take the lead." yoongi says with an obedient nod.
"this is why we'll die old and unhappy, hyung. you just tell me what you want to do and I'll pay for everything. I want to splurge today. it's what I do when I feel confident after taking a test."
"why can't we just sit by the park and talk some more?" yoongi's thoughts spill right from his mouth.
"that's what you call living?" namjoon tuts.
"I didn't say we should start today."
"then when will we start?"
from the corner of his eye, yoongi could see other people ogling at them. he tugs namjoon to the side, near a tattoo shop and sighs.
"look, I don't exactly know how this whole 'living concept'-" yoongi emphasizes with his fingers. "works. if you're well aware, I don't get out that much-"
"it shows." namjoon cuts in.
"sure. whatever." yoongi says with a roll to his eyes. "since you're the city boy here and you seem like you know your routes around the district, why not show me a thing or two first before I lead us into any possible trouble where we end up gambling our lives away."
namjoon shakes his head in disbelief.
"it's not impossible." yoongi adds with a rather stiff tone.
"the gambling part's not impossible, everyone from around here's done it at least once. but do you really think I'd allow myself to trash this life? you must've forgotten who I am, hyung.
"now, listen. you managed to leave your city without having the police tailing your ass and got through a day without impregnating anyone so you mustn't find it too hard to tell me what's gotten your attention. 'cause I'm pretty used to what goes on around here, so I'm asking you where you want to go." namjoon snaps his pointer up before he continues. "and don't say to the park or the library or wherever the hell else 'cause I took you to gangnam for a reason and that is not to meditate or have a counseling session."
"either is just too tempting." yoongi fiddles with the large button on his overcoat. "but I was thinking..."
"go on."
a sigh escapes him, one that is heavier than what he originally intended to release. he looks down the street and a familiar signboard comes into his view.
just for tonight, yoongi tells himself. just for tonight he'll find company in someone else's arms.
"where to, hyung?" namjoon presses more politely this time, bending slightly as he tries to catch yoongi's gaze.
and instead of yoongi giving him any verbal responses, he starts dragging namjoon across the street and towards the place with the purple led lights and velvet drapes and ivory pillars.
