this morning is one of the most peculiar ones yoongi's had in a while. not because the sky was clearer and the wind was cooler and namjoon was sat beside him, all sober and quiet. but because there used to be only three seats occupied in the dining area but now there are four. and the face that looks across to yoongi is just as unfamiliar as the name namjoon says he owns.
"hyung, jimin here is jungkook's co-worker."
the guy with the blazing orange hair nods.
yoongi had to admit his hair color did suit him though.
when he sat down at his usual post today, he was definitely not expecting to have someone prepare him his drink—which is still the usual cocoa and sugar—nor was he expecting to see blue and the shade of noon's afterglow look good on anyone ever (because jimin's wearing a leathery aquamarine jacket). but jimin exceeded yoongi's imaginations, he was simply exceptional.
"I'm older than him, just for the record." he says with a silent voice as he nods to jungkook.
the youngest chuckles and slings his arm over the guy, jimin.
"yeah but I'm taller than him by a few inches."
"but I was still born before you, dumb ass."
"which is kind of sad 'cause your height couldn't catch on to your age."
jungkook ducks when jimin gestures a fist at him and the younger begins laughing manically.
"I came here to talk to namjoon hyung, not you with your larger than life front teeth."
"ouch." jungkook feigns being appalled by bringing a hand to his chest.
jimin ignores him and hops down his stool. "shall we, hyung?" he signals his palm so they could retreat to the living space.
namjoon nods, sliding out of his seat. "why don't you share your hobbies to grumpy papi over there? I'm sure he'd be interested." he tells jungkook.
yoongi's head rises slightly but he doesn't roll his eyes to look up. it doesn't even bother him being called names by the younger lad. he tries to get his face warm from the heat being emitted by his cup of chocolate. namjoon told him that jungkook had made it just for him. he even insisted on the specifics, right before namjoon had brewed up coffee for him instead.
yoongi's glad that jungkook remembered about his growing dislike of the caffeinated drink.
before jimin and namjoon leave to enter the main room, namjoon stops right beside yoongi and pats his shoulder. he doesn't say anything, though, but his actions were enough.
and yoongi remembers even before namjoon had hinted anything.
of course. how can he forget?
"be back in a bit." namjoon calls out before he and jimin are out of sight.
jungkook's fingers find yoongi's across the counter. all the while, yoongi's holding onto his mug with both hands. when jungkook digs his fingers between yoongi's, the elder spreads his apart so jungkook can fit his in between.
"I don't understand." yoongi's staring at their hands as they hold one another.
"what is it?" he hears the kid ask.
yoongi looks at him but doesn't open his mouth to say anything.
is this what home feels like, jungkook-ah?
the walls composing namjoon's apartment aren't very thick. pass the concrete and wooden dividers, yoongi could try to make out what park jimin and kim namjoon were concerning themselves with. if he urged himself to really pay attention, he could find out what all of this was about.
