days turn to mist, nights turn to ash.
wet with the prior drizzle, the pavement sheens with a natural glaze.
yoongi's sneakers squeak against the ground sometimes. the soles of jungkook's shoes patter continuously with a weighty thud. all the while, the calm breeze whistles between their feet and the unfilled gaps between their fingers as they have them laced together.
yoongi takes jungkook to the bay.
and it's funny 'cause yoongi knows it should be the other way around. he's from another city and jungkook was a local. the younger had promised that he'd take his hyung around seoul sometime.
since he woke up late, he didn't have the chance to offer the invitation first. but jungkook assumed he'd have all the time in the world to ask his hyung out. luck just doesn't work that way, probably.
it's alright, though, jungkook thinks. whatever works for the two of them. and quite frankly, whatever opportunity he gets to spend with his hyung is more than alright.
so if today meant he'd be skipping work as he's whisked away by yoongi's assistance, then jungkook is willing to risk another absence.
"I like it here."
jungkook is more than willing to accept the consequences of his actions.
"I like you, to be honest." yoongi says. and it comes out too teasingly than he'd intended.
jungkook decides against his will to roll his eyes and chuckles instead. "you're really learning, aren't you, hyung?"
"only from the best."
"stop." jungkook grumbles, flushing just a bit more.
unintentionally, his grip tightens onto yoongi's hand. and unintentionally, yoongi lets out a wholehearted laugh.
cute, he thought.
being caught up in the moment, yoongi forgets why he even took jungkook here in the first place. they stroll farther, hand held in hand. yoongi gives quiet observations to the boy walking beside him and jungkook takes all of yoongi's looks in. his head tilts downward, looks at him from the corner of his eyes as he pretends that he doesn't know that his hyung's focused on him all the while.
it's only until they reach the stone barricade separating the sea from the land that yoongi's senses come back. he lets go of jungkook as the black-haired boy trots towards the overhang. he peers over the fence, taking a good view of the water. his hair tussles due to the seaside breeze.
the smell of rain and saltwater is evident in the air. the sun sleeps behind a whale of clouds, grey and white overlap each other like two separate kinds of satin. they make up for the usual blue skies and its disappearance.
yoongi stands a few feet from jungkook, watching him some more, his chest feeling heavier, his throat getting tighter.
"jungkook-ah, don't lean too much while you're sightseeing." the elder calls out, a nervous chuckle following afterwards. he sees jungkook dipping beyond the barrier and it makes him anxious.
the younger spins around to face yoongi and props himself onto the pebbled blockage. "sit with me."
yoongi walks towards him with his arms crossed, doing his best to keep his eyes open amid the strong gust moving his way. he hops onto the elevation beside jungkook and plants his palms on either of his sides.
"I like it here." jungkook draws circles on top of yoongi's hand with his pointer.
"you already said that."
