While our army greets Izabelle and her guardians I take the elevator to the room my homies are in, excited to deliver the good news.

My heart thrums and my stomach won't stop turning. This is it. After I tell them I succeeded I was going to tell Reason that I am in love with him. I don't know when I came to this decision but I guess with the adrenaline of war in the air and the fact that we could very much die tomorrow, I must be feeling spontaneous.

Skipping to the door, instead of knocking I throw the door open and yell, "Which of you hoes missed me the most?"

The thick tension hangs in the air like a cloud. There is a clear division between Cherry, Kyle, Dmitri, Zane, Ester and Jordan against Reason, Anna, Vivian, Declan and Aliyah. Both groups are glaring at the other but Cherry's side seem to be focused on Reason.

"I leave for two days and y'all already want to play Hunger Games. Okay ninos, tell me what happened." I grin, trying to lighten the mood. It did nothing. "Jordan, talk to me."

"Ask him," Jordan growls, jerking his chin in Reasons direction.

"Alright then. Boo, what did you do now? Light someone's hair on fire? Check out another girl? If so, we're going to have a serious talk that involves you being frozen and thrown from this building."

Reason POV

Guilt and self-loathing pierce me. There Melody stands, perfectly clueless as to the dumb acts I've been doing.

I can't meet her violet stare. To see the disappointment in me. Hear her condescending tone. I won't be able to handle it.

I'm such a dirt bag. I honest to the Gods do not deserve her and she doesn't deserve to be hurt and discarded.

"You won't tell her, but I will since you're such a pathetic, weak fucker." Cherry snaps.

"Watch yourself," Melody warns, anger in her gaze.

Cherry turned to Melody, "Reason smoked weed and drank alcohol."

Melody frowns, "War is coming, Cherry, and lying to me isn't funny."

"It's true," I speak up. I made a boneheaded mistake and it was time to pay.

Reason wouldn't meet my gaze but I could see the plain truth that was in his words, "Everyone, clear out."

It must've been my tone because they actually listen and left Reason and I alone.

Through my teeth I say, "Explain,"

"You were gone and I lost it."

I stride to him and try not to yell about his stupidity. "What?"

"I thought you left because I told you I was in love with you. I thought you didn't feel the same way,"

"You thought I ditched you?" all I wanted to do was smack Reason for being so slow.

"Melody, do you not realize what a douche I am? How could you possibly love me," he turns and punches the wall several times. "I'm a monster. Darkness is the side I belong on. Fire hurts people. I hurt people. You can't get close to me otherwise you'll be smothered," he faces me gave my shoulders a gentle shake, "I can't do that to you because I have too much love for you. Stay away Melody."

Reason then fell to the ground in a heap of flames. I smile sweetly at his dramatic antics.

Water appears on my palms and I place them on Reasons soft black hair, extinguishing the fire. I move to his back and massage the flames away.
