Chapter 10

The Priest called for all the family members to come and sit down. Swara wiped away the tears and made her way to her mums side. She couldn't do all this again. She had to move on. As she approached her mum, she saw Ragini there as well. Ragini looked up at Swara yet didn't do anything.

Swara gave her sister a smile yet Ragini ignored her. Why was Ragini still mad at her. She got what she wanted. She was still married to Laksay, the family had excepted her even after what she had done. Swara had given up on her love and left the house.

But to a surprise, Ragini came and sat down next to her. She yet still said nothing but took the seat next to her. The pooja started. Everyone sat around the fire as the Priest said the prayers. Then Swara's eyes fell on Sanskar and Kavita. They were sitting next to each other. A hurting pain started to raise inside Swara. She tried to ignore that but couldn't.

Then a hand slowly creeped over her hand. The hand slowly squeezed hers. She then realised that her hand was shaking. She followed the other hand and saw that it was Ragini. She still wasn't looking at her but kept hold of Swara's hand in support. A small smile flashed on Swara's face even for a second her sister was by her side.

The pooja finished and everybody was sitting around the living room enjoying the sweets and tea. Swara was in the kitchen preparing lunch when Ragini came in. She hadn't said anything to her since she had been there. Deep down Swara knew that her sister was still unsecure about everything but didn't want to upset her.

"Swara, I know that you are hurting. I know that you are trying to pretend that you are happy about this all and you want us to believe this," finally Ragini spoke to break the silence.

"Ragini, I don't want anything to be wrong between us. I know that you don't believe me when I say that I'm happy that Laksay has decided to be with you and I want him to make you happy."

"Swara, I know how hard it is to have the person that you love go with someone else. I get the whole pain that one feels and I'm not proud of it. I know what I have done in the past isn't the solution but I don't want you to go through and do what I have done."

Swara was confused about what was happening. What was Ragini trying to say. Ragini saw the confused expression on Swara's face and knew that her sister didn't get what she was trying to say.

"Swara, if Sanskar loves Kavita, I don't want you to force your love for him and try and break them up. If they are meant to be with each other then leave them alone. You may gain Sanskar but you may lose the love that he did have for you. That's what happened between me and Laksay."

Swara couldn't believe her sister. She was insulting her love for Sanskar, she was poising the pureness of their relationship.

"Ragini that's where you are wrong. You are comparing me to you. I have always been willing to sacrifice my love for the happiness of others. Even then when you were in love with Laksay and even now with Kavita. So don't compare us and don't discriminate my love for Sanskar."

Ragini was shocked at her sister. She was just trying to help. She didn't want her sister to spend the rest of her life thinking that if she had done things differently. But before she could say anything Swara left the kitchen leaving Ragini by herself. Laksay entered right after. He looked a little confused.

"What happened?"

"I just wanted Swara to understand that Kavita is Sanskar's future and that she should stay out of it."

"Why would you say that. Are you that insure that you have to constantly put down your sister to make yourself happy?''

"Laksay, I don't want her to lose what she has with Sanskar. If she pushes Kavita away from him to make room for herself then she will hate herself for the rest of her life. She would have pushed away all the people that she loves because she wanted to gain the love of one person."

"Ragini, you may think that you are doing the right thing but trust me, bhai is in completely and utterly in love with Swara. The only reason he hasn't told anything to Kavita is because Swara wants him to be sure and follow his heart. Bhai has convinced himself that he will make Swara realise her mistake and come to him and till then he will do what she wants."

Ragini didn't know what to say or do. She wasn't sure what the right thing was or wrong thing to do was.

"Fine, if that is the case then I'm in. I want my sister to be happy and I know that may be hard to believe for you now. I want everything to be okay and I want to make what I have done wrong to right. If you are right and Sanskar's love for Swara is true and vise-verse then I want them to be together. I will do anything for them," said Ragini.

A smile spread across Laksay's face on hearing this. Then a voice from behind them settled them. They both turned around to Sanskar. He too had a smile on his face.

"Ragini, I'm happy to know that you are on our side. It means a lot and i do assure you that my love for your sister is true. I want to be with her, I want to make her happy and I want her to be with me through every step of my life. In order to do that I will need you and Lucky. Because Swara is everything to me and seeing her upset kills me. She thinks that it is easy to let someone go but no. I had done that once and I closed that chapter. I'm not opening them up again. Kavita was my past and Swara is my present and future."
