Light and Dark

Everything looks so much better at night.

Everything looks so much more beautiful when darkness  disguises it.

Light is pure and fresh and obvious.

The light shows every flaw and every blemish.

The light shows the truth.

When the light shines on something, there is nothing to cover it up.

It is like stripping someone of their clothes, leaving them cold and bare and empty.  Leaving them exposed.

When you can see everything, people tend to judge and doubt.

But when the full picture is hidden, you can make sure that only the best parts get shown.

The parts that people are awed by. The parts that take their breath away.

There is no light without some darkness but it had been a while now and still, no light had shone through the dark I was crawling through.

I was trapped and I couldn't see.

I was lost and had no one to guide me.

I was broken and forgotten.

Yet even though I was crawling aimlessly through the dark, all people managed to see me in was the light. And it was shining brighter than ever before.

I was blinded by it and it was exposing me for everything I truly was.

People were seeing me crystal clear.

They had front row seats.

I wished for the show to end. I was watching and waiting for the curtains to close and the script to be rewritten. I wanted to put on a different costume, wear a different mask and become someone else.

Someone that was not concealed by the dark, yet someone who wasn't stood directly in the spotlight.

"Goodbye Rihanna Grey" I whispered into the darkness.

No one could hear me but I hadn't only said it to myself.

I said it to my family back home, I said it to my friends who I no longer had contact with. I said it to Jimin and Yoongi and Jin. I said it to anyone and everyone that was ever unfortunate enough to cross paths with me and see me in this unbearable light.

I said it and I meant it.

Because I didn't want anyone to see me anymore.

And if someone did...

I wanted them to like what they were seeing.
