A/N The first paragraph is some poorly written vague smut. That'll be the only smut in the whole story.
My face was buried in the pillow muffling my moans and catching the sweat from my forehead leaving behind a damp print on the colorful pillow case. Each forward movement Phil made behind me shook my body. I let out another moan completely caught in the moment when I heard tapping making my head snap up to hear better as Phil stopped his thrusting to look at me.
"What?" He asked from behind me.
"I think someone's at the d-" my sentence was cut off by the sound again.
"Forget it, who ever it is isn't important." He said.
"No." I objected making him pull out. I got up and threw my clothes back on, that had been carelessly tossed in the floor in the heat of the moment. "If it's one of out mothers they won't forgive us for coming all the way here and us not answering." I joked.
"They would of called." Phil called after me as I left his bedroom and closed the door behind me. I went to the door, unlocked it, and opened it to see no one there.
"Daddy?" A voice came from below me. I looked down to see brown eyes and messy long curly brown hair looking up at me. I was in shock my mouth dropped at just the sight of her. I bent down and wrapped her in my arms tightly. I honesty never thought I'd see her again.
"I missed you so much." She mumbled into the hug and I could tell she was smiling.
"I missed you so much too." I said to her and hugged her a bit longer before questions started forming in my mind and I brought her in.
"What are you doing here? You're supposed to be in school right now. Not only that but it's not even my day to have you, I haven't even got to see you in a week." I spewed out. "But I'm so glad you're here." I told her not wanting her to get the wrong idea.
"Mummy brought me here and just left." She said simply.
"Did she say why? Are you home sick? Does she have to work?" I asked.
"No. I don't feel sick." She shrugged.
"Let me call mummy and see what's going on." I said and pulled my phone out of my pocket. Megan just stared at me as the phone wrung and wrung.
"I think she's angry at you." Megan informed me one I hung up.
"Why?" I asked her.
"Because a lady came to out house to talk to me and she said it was your fault." She said.
"It was, but I just want you to be safe and happy." I said. And sent a text to Allie asking why Megan was here and not in school when it hit me.
Was Allie abandoning Megan here?
"Hello Megan!" Phil said in surprise now fully clothed and stepping out of his room a bit further down the hall.
"Hello Phil!" Megan answered cheerfully.
"Hey you remembers my name." He said coming towards her.
"Of course! I like you silly." She said.
"I'm not silly." Phil fake pouted at her "daddy is silly." He said making Megan laugh and agree.
"Phil." I said giving him a serious look of there's some serious shit going down. I leaned in to his ear and whispered "I'm almost entirely sure her mother abandoned her here and isn't coming back. I can't get ahold of her and she's supposed to be in school right now."
When I pulled away he looked at me with wide eyes and his jaw dropped.
"You need to call the police." He leaned back into me and whispered.
Megan skipped along into the lounge to play like it was any other day.
"Won't the police scare her? What if they take her away from me? What if they take her away all together?" I asked him in a whisper so she couldn't hear me.
"Dan, you have to. You can't just keep her. Her mother deserves to go to jail for this anyway." He said.
"No. I want to keep her." I was so happy to have her back my mind was clouded by the joy of seeing her.
"I didn't want to remind you again, but she's not yours, not legally and not by blood either. I get that she's not just some random little girl to you or even to me, but when the police or her school finally do find out you might get in a lot of trouble for not notifying them." He said.
"A day." I decided "I'll give her twenty four hours to contact me or come get her daughter, you know, to know for sure that she just left her here or not." I said.
"Even if she comes to get her why would you just let her take her back home to be abused?" Phil whispered and looked at me if I was crazy.
"I never said I'd let her take her home. Either way the police will be called." I assured him.
"Good. As for now let's just not mention any of this to her and you two go on as if it's any other day with her." Phil said.
"Please don't tell her I'm not her dad either... I am, I am her dad, at least I feel like it and I don't want to let her down." I told him.
"I wouldn't." He replied.
I went into the lounge to see her tiny backpack on the couch and her playing on the floor.
"What's in your backpack?" I asked knowing she hadn't been to school today.
"I don't know. Mummy packed it and told me to bring it." She said.
I unzipped it to see it crammed full of clothes, more clothes than necessary to just stay over, that in itself confirmed to me all I needed a know. I quickly zipped the backpack back up and threw it back on the couch.
She hummed a little song on the floor, she seemed so happy, I didn't know what I would do when she finally found everything out.
"Daddy?" She looked up at me.
"Yes?" I asked.
"Will you play with me? You're a really good pretender." She asked. I was really good at pretending, pretending things were alright, pretending I wasn't scared, pretending I knew what to do, pretending to be a dad and a good boyfriend.
"Of course I will." I replied to her. Now I was going to pretend like this was any other day.
At dinner I told her that she was most likely staying the night so I gave her a bath. I sat on the edge of the tub as she gathered bubbles and put them on top of her head. I couldn't help but grimace at the bruises that still hadn't all healed over yet on her back. There was no way Allie would ever get her back, I'd make sure of it somehow. Even if I couldn't have Megan, I'd make sure Allie couldn't either.
I woke up in a panic as my alarm went off and I looked at the time, evidently it had been going off for quite some time. I sat up in the bed making Phil stir beside me.
"What is it?" He asked groggily.
"I have to get Megan to school!" I began to panic.
"Dan, it's Saturday." He said.
"Is it?" I asked and checked my phone to see it really was. I laid back down in bed but it was hard to go back to sleep.
I knew today was the day I might not ever see her again.
