Emerson stood in the middle of the street, shielding her eyes from the glowing sun and staring at the crosswalk. The light flashed the hand and she continued to rock back and forth on her heels, waiting in the mass of people to cross the road. It was mid-morning and after waking and eating a large breakfast Emerson had dressed in a warm yellow knit sweater and black jeans with her high top vans.

She let her hair air dry and was toying with a few strands of it as she waited. Magnus had packed her messenger bag with her candy, a bottle of water, her phone, an address book, and a wallet full of cash and credit cards that she could use on whatever she pleased. Along with all of these items was the note her mother had written her just the day before and there it would remain. Magnus had used a potion to force her feet in the right direction, knowing her knack for getting side tracked and lost.

Since she now knew more of the world she had always been able to see, it seemed creatures of all sorts were everywhere and many of them noticed her. They would bow their head or ignore her, some even offering their own version of warm smiles. She had a feeling they believed her to be Clary, the one who had supposedly saved the Shadow world and Mundane world more than once.

Emerson wondered what Clary was like, was she down to earth like herself, or did she have a great ego from saving the world? Emerson couldn't help but wonder what Jocelyn was like as well, Magnus had told her all about the sacrifices Jocelyn had made in order to protect both her and Clary, but still, the notion of being the twin that was given away left Emerson feeling a sort of resentment towards Jocelyn. The light turned to the green walking man and with the crowd Emerson moved, her head bowing and her gaze watching as her feet carried her away.

Manhattan was, for the lack of a better term, the same as Brooklyn, only slightly larger in Emerson's opinion. It was where the cathedral she was searching for was located and after three hours, she had arrived on the street it was supposedly located on. Emerson hadn't paid much attention to the street names; instead she had focused on the warm breeze and memories of her and her mother walking the streets on days like today. A sad smile was on her lips when her feet stopped moving.

She had come to a stop in front of a large gothic like cathedral that looked old and as if it could collapse any second. The windows were boarded up and half of the second steeple was collapsed and lay around dead grass. She walked down the cracked stone path, towards the large wooden doors.

There was police tape crossing along the doors and a paper that stated the building was condemned. Magnus had explained that glamour was placed on the building to make it look this way, but Emerson found herself wondering if perhaps her shoes had led her to the wrong building.

Backing up and allowing her eyes to wonder the old and eerie building Emerson contemplated on what to do now. She had set out to come here and get the book so she could learn about the rune that appeared on her left wrist and forearm; now that she was here she began to wonder if coming was such a good idea.

As she stood in the middle of the path, contemplating just what it was she should do a voice calling her twin's name caused her to turn and watch as a couple jogged towards her. It was a young man around nineteen or twenty and a girl who appeared a bit younger than he.

The boy had dark coffee colored hair with matching coffee brown eyes. He was dressed in all black, from his dark jeans and black boots to his solid black shirt and black leather jacket. He seemed taller than Emerson, perhaps standing at around 5'10 and was well built. Emerson noted that he was oddly handsome but something about him seemed boring to her.

The girl had long ebony black wavy hair and ivory skin with bright red full lips. She was dressed in a black tight dress and black high heeled boots and a black leather jacket. She stood, with the heels, at 5'7 and Emerson wondered just how tall she normally was. They both looked made for the other and happy as their arms were looped together and smiling as they hurried towards her.
