Starlight danced along the ceiling of Alec's bedroom, creating a warm glow that seemed to keep the darkest part of one's thoughts and fears at bay. Soft breathing filled his ears as he lay on his back, his arms behind his head and his eyes dancing along the ceiling, watching the lights. His chose rest up and down in a steady rhythm, warmth filled his side as he felt Emerson shift and the lights glow dimmer, her soft snores filled his ears and he allowed a smile to grace his lips.

He wondered if she realized she caused such a beautiful thing in her sleep, the moment she had drifted off it was like the night sky had appeared in his room, wrapping around them and glowing in comfort. He felt her shift once more and he glanced down as her head rested on his chest and her hands held onto his shirt. He pulled his arms from behind his head and lightly wrapped them around her, pulling her up to where her ear was over his heart and she let out a tiny puff of air, as if she was content once more.

When Alec had woken he had learned that he had been killed and that it was Emerson who had both brought him back and healed him. No one understood how it had happened but no one was willing to question the miracle that had taken place. Izzy had all but attacked him, squeezing him as tightly as she could and begging him to never leave her that she wasn't ready to lose her big brother.

Simon and also hugged him, much to Alec's dislike, but he had still allowed it. Clary had hugged him, whispering softly to him that she was happy her future brother-in-law was still around; it had made Alec's cheeks darken and he had playfully shoved her off of him.

Jace had simply nodded, hiding his tear stained cheeks as he led them all back to the Institute. However after they had all agreed to not speak of the events with anyone outside themselves, Jace had pulled him to the side and punched Alec's arm over and over again, each hit getting softer and softer before he hugged him just as tightly as Izzy had.

Emerson had appeared and after making a loud crunching sound caused them to pull away only to see her in her pajama's eating a large handful of chips. Jace had shook his head before leaving, patting her on the head as he left. Somehow, Alec had found himself back in his room, lying with a sleeping Emerson in his arms.

Alec sighed as he relaxed his tense muscles, he wanted to sleep as well, but feared his dreams. He knew that what had happened to him could not be easily forgotten; even know he could still see in his mind's eye the blade piercing his lung, hearing Satran say he was going for Emerson. He shook his head and looked down at the sleeping girl, no matter what turmoil that his mind was in, she always seemed to pull him back.

She shifted once more and her head lifted, her half closed eyes looking up at him. Alec froze, wondering if she would be angry for how he was so close to her, he hadn't meant to but he had found that fighting himself when it came to her was useless and he was much too tired.

"She's sleeping, but something's wrong." Emerson spoke in a groggy tone as she pushed herself up, her hands resting on Alec's chest as she blinked, trying to rid the sleep from her eyes without having to rub them.

"It's the same with Ambriel, it's like before we met, it's just me and my thought but I still feel his power but it's blurred almost as if it's mine." Alec spoke as he cleared his throat, he could feel the heat creeping up his neck and into his cheeks. The starlight had vanished as soon as Emerson had started speaking, leaving the pair in utter darkness but he could feel her eyes gazing into his own, could see her eyes glowed with a softness that made his heart race.

"Why were you taken?" Emerson questioned, changing the topic as quickly as she had started it.

"It doesn't matter, the demons who took me are long gone and they won't find what they are searching for. Ambriel and Rhamiel are sleeping, Magnus seems to have settled back into his old ways of leaving, the Institute is safe, and the others are all fine, we're fine, it's over." Alec lied; the lies he told left a bitter taste in his mouth and he wanted nothing more than to tell the truth but the truth was he was afraid. He knew that if Emerson found out they had taken him to get to her she would do something unexpected and Emerson Gray-Fairchild-Garroway was the definition of unexpected.
