Alec stood before Emerson with a void of any and all expression. Both of them had their arms crossed and had been in this position for all of ten minutes. Emerson huffed as her arms fell from their crossed position and landed on the wooded floor of his room. Alec sighed and shook his head as he walked further into his room pulling his jacket off and laying it across the back of his desk chair. Emerson rolled over onto her back and continued to watch him upside down, her annoyed look fading as she grinned at the back of his head.
"Magnus is back, said he hid the journals and necklace." Alec spoke in a brief tone as he pulled his chair out and sat down, leaning over and picking up arrows as he began to rune arrows.
"Why?" Emerson questioned as she lifted her hands in the air as light formed around her fingertips.
They had been glowing ever since she woke up from the nap she had took when they arrived back at the Institute. She and Clary had spoke more about the matter and she had even shown Clary the light. After talking with Clary and being questioned by a worried Luke she had went to Alec's room and had laid upside down on his bed, waiting for him to come back.
"Stop, and we have agreed that it's safer to go about our lives as if the Enochian marks don't exist." Alec spoke as he felt his mark tingle and he knew she was using her light magic.
"Stop being what we are? That sounds like a great idea, can I go back to college? Can you go back to being a normal shadowhunter?" Emerson replied in a serious tone and Alec shook his head as he knew she was being sarcastic, her sarcasm was often hard to pick up on, as he was learning.
"You'll be trained as a shadowhunter now get off of my bed, Clary and Izzy will be here any second to take you to your own room." Alec said as he set his stele down and turned to see Emerson ignoring him as she continued to cause small sparks of light to leave her fingertips.
She seemed amused by what she was doing and this allowed Alec to think over his talk with Magnus, Luke Jace and surprisingly Clary. Magnus had filled him and Clary in on what he had done, refusing to tell them where he had went, all he said was that no one, not even himself would ever see the journals.
He had also advised them to keep Emerson from using her abilities and if they seen her doing so, to distract her by food. He had explained that using her power without knowing how was what truly caused her to almost die. Her body and soul were not fully merged and such acts could cause her soul to leave, the same went with Alec and it was decided that neither would be allowed to look into their marks.
Alec watched as Emerson stared up at his ceiling her tongue slightly sticking out as she concentrated. He knew Clary had, briefly, explained to her that she couldn't use her powers, however it seemed Emerson didn't plan on listening to that rule.
"I'm suppose to not leave your side, I did and look what happened. I'm not up testing fate again, I don't think fate likes me all that much." Emerson commented as she wiggled her fingers and watched as small sparks of light danced along the ceiling. If she was being honest they looked like tiny glowing stars and she found herself smiling at the thought of being able to create her own personal night sky.
"Which is why you need to train and if we are going to act as normal shadowhunters you don't have," Alec was cut off as Emerson moved the light to his chest and moved it in circles giggling softly as he fell silent.
He watched with a soft look in his eyes as she appeared relaxed and content for the first time they met. He wondered if she was always childish when she was alone, if this was the real Emerson finally showing through everything. He found that despite her acting childish and slightly annoying he enjoyed it and hoped that she would continue to act in such a way.
