Round One
The room was filled with an uncomfortable silence, though the feeling of discomfort came from a goblin who sat perched on top of a red haired girl who seemed oblivious to the off atmosphere in the room. Emerson simply stood with a bored look in her grass and emerald green eyes as she carried on eating her bowl of ramen.
She sat on the kitchen counter, kicking her feet against the wooden doors giving off a thud and rhythmic thud. Across from her, with eyes narrowed and her lips pressed tightly, stood Maryse Lightwood. Her eyes scanned the Clary look alike and came to the conclusion that she was much worse than her elder twin.
Luke had filled her in prior to him leaving for his day job. Maryse had found that Luke was hiding something from her, the entire group was and she had a feeling it all centered around the previously missing twin. Maryse didn't trust this girl, there was something, off about her. The way she stared, as if she was seeing things both for the first time and as if she hadn't seen them in a long time.
She moved gracefully but at the same time seemed to have no clue where she was going. Maryse had been following her for the better part of the morning, ever since she seen the girl wandering around with the goblin a top her head. Maryse had never seen a goblin and her suspicions grew when she saw how close the pair seemed.
Emerson continued to stare at Maryse Lightwood, holding her gaze as she slurped her noodles, grinning after each bite as she saw the woman wince. She had been told all about Maryse and had found her both interesting and annoying. She wanted to know the woman, she knew from looking at her that she was a force to be reckoned with, however there was a softness about her.
.If Emerson were to be honest with herself, the woman reminded her of her mom, Tessa, more than anything and it made Emerson not be as annoyed when she realized she was following her. Normally Emerson had a terrible sense of direction but she had finally memorized her favorite places within the Institute.
This meant she could maneuver her way around without getting lost. However she had a feeling the woman didn't know this and that was why she wandered aimlessly around for almost two hours, giggling quietly when she would hear the older woman curse and groan.
Maryse felt like ripping the bowl from the girl's hands and dumping the food out into the garbage, she couldn't believe a child raised by the well known Tessa Gray could have such poor manners. Then again Tessa Gray herself, remained almost a myth until she appeared in the final battle, Maryse had only caught a glimpse of the fearless woman before she was gone with a blink of the eye.
She had never seen her before then and she had hoped that she could see her once more, however according to Luke, she was killed some weeks ago and her adopted daughter, Emerson Gray, was really the youngest twin and biological daughter to Jocelyn Fairchild.
Now, the girl had so many last names Maryse didn't bother with commenting them to memory, all she wanted to know was what she was hiding. Maryse lifted her chin as she fixed her blouse before clearing her throat only to give Emerson an angry glare as the girl began slurping the juice from the bowl. The goblin laughed and Maryse spun on her heel and stormed off, muttering at how the girl had poor manners. Emerson giggled as Yue patted her head before muttering how she won round one.
Round Two
Emerson sat on the mat in the weapons room, her elbows resting on her knees as she watched Alec practiced his bow, she was fascinated at how quickly and expertly he seemed to release each arrow. Across the room was Clary and Simon who was sparring, Yue was attempting to throw off Simon as he declared that Clary was his new friend.
