Emerson lay in the middle of the bed, her eyes closed and her lips slightly parted. Her chest rose and fell with every small intake of air she took. Her body was relaxed; her thoughts still she finally felt as if everything was alright, she felt like she had before her mom died. She was content, a feeling she believed she would have never felt again.
Though taking into account of everything and all of the new relationships she realized it would have been impossible to have not formed any sort of relationship or some form of happiness in her life. Yue lay in his makeshift bed that consisted of leaving Alec's dresser partially pulled open with a small pillow and a torn piece of cloth as a bed and blanket. His tiny snores filled her ears, causing her to stay at ease. The sound of the bedroom door opened and her eyes fluttered open and turned her head to see Alec entering the room.
Alec softly shut the door behind him, his mind replaying the words of the being named Wyvrs. Alec knew Magnus cared about Emerson, that much was apparent but he had always assumed it was nothing more than that of sibling love. However when he thought of how Emerson felt, Alec couldn't figure out who she liked and who she didn't.
She seemed to always be the same with everyone, always using the same dull or blunt tone. He found it annoying, how could he understand his emotions if he couldn't understand hers? His eyes gaze lifted from his boots and he found her taking up his entire bed, staring at him with an unreadable expression.
He froze, his thoughts instantly going to the hug they shared only an hour or so ago, the way she seemed to fit perfectly in his arms, the way she hugged him, not being tall enough to wrap around his chest and only wrapping around his waist. He took notice of what she was wearing now.
She had changed into a pair of shorts that he saw peeking out from the large long sleeved shirt she was wearing; he took notice that it was his own shirt she must have taken. Her hair was down, spilling around her shoulders and around and onto the pillow, on his pillow. She wore knee length orange socks but he couldn't help but notice just how smooth her legs were the ivory color, she held no tan lines and Alec felt his throat go dry.
He forced himself to look to where the snoring was coming from, seeing Yue snoring in his drawer he mentally reminding himself to get the goblin a better sleeping place, just so he wouldn't mess with his clothes. Emerson watched Alec with a curious look; his eyes had seemed to darken as he stared at her before quickly looking to Yue.
She wondered if it had anything to do Yue pulling her away from her time with Clary and Izzy because he wanted her to meet, 'their old friend from a happy world,' how he had explained it to her while urging her to hurry along. She had nodded; wanting to know who else Yue had been as close too in his younger years as she comes to call it. Yue had already explained to her about her soul and Alec's soul had been good friends with a powerful demon and Yue, the first goblin.
Emerson had only guessed that Yue wanted her to meet the demon only to meet Alec standing alone in his own anger. She was brought from her thoughts of her sad friend to focus on Alec. She had enjoyed hugging Alec more than she had thought she would, though she hadn't much given hugging people a thought.
She shivered, wondering why she had worn sleeping shorts instead of pajama pants, though she didn't know where they were and she had been too lazy to search for them. She stood from the bed and walked towards Alec, wrapping her arms around his waist and sighing as that familiar warmth spread through her chest. She smiled as she got tired and the sense of peace washed over her once more.
Alec tensed as he glanced down and seen slender and small arms locked tightly around his waist and a gentle face resting in the middle of his back. He relaxed fighting the urge to place his hands on top of hers, instead he twisted in her grasp only to see her eyes fluttering open and she looked up at him with an emotion he found himself thinking he was losing his mind. She looked tired but her eyes seemed brighter, as she smiled sleepily up at him, but the emotion he wasn't certain if he was seeing, was an emotion of content.
He wanted to believe that she felt happy to be so close to him as if she wanted to be holding him. Alec tried to find his voice, his mind being foggy with emotions he never thought he would feel for a girl, some emotions even he never thought he could feel for Magnus himself.
However the moment her head hit his chest and her eyes fluttered closed, all reason stopped and he found his body moving once again on his own, his mark gave a warm tingling as he placed one arm on her back and the other under the bend of her knees before effortlessly picking her up.
"I knew I hugged you for a reason." Her voice was low and thick with sleep as she kept her eyes closed.
Alec froze for a moment, not understanding her blunt statement but he found a smile forming on his lips as he gently laid her back on her side of the bed, holding her legs elevated as he pulled the cover underneath her before covering her up. She rolled over onto her side, facing away from the door and towards his pillow, tucking her hands under head.
"Let's not get used to it," Alec whispered as he once again left his room.
His heart was slamming against his chest and he wanted nothing more than to go back and lay next to her, to hold her in his arms once again. He shook his head and softly shut the door behind him and headed to locate Jace. He didn't know what to do, he was going off the deep end and he needed Jace to pull him out or at the very least help him stay afloat.
