Sand.

Miles and miles of hot sand was all that Magnus say, the Pyramid that would appear to him was no longer there, only miles of sand. Magnus felt his anger and frustration grow as he glared at where it should have been standing. He had arrived back here, seeking council with the being, though he had no clue as to why he had come here or why believed the being would offer any form of help. An angry sigh left his lips as he turned and created a portal but before he could enter a harsh gust of wind caused him to lose focus and the portal to vanish. Shielding his face he waited for the harsh wind to calm and the sand to stop blowing around.

"Magnus Bane, an interesting name you have taken." The powerful voice spoke as the wind died down and Magnus allowed his arm to drop to his side as the cloaked figure appeared only a few feet from him.

"Well, this certainly is to be unexpected." Magnus commented in a snide tone, he didn't mean to be so snide, it was that he felt so poorly and did not care who he was rude to, even if it was a being he feared.

Wyvrs stood with his hands clasped in front of him, his face hidden by the cowl of his cloak, allowing his own golden gaze to stare at the young warlock he had gave up all those years ago. The warlock looked like him in many ways, the same golden cat eyes, the same sun kissed skin and the ebony color of his hair. His nose and shape of his lips and eyes was from his mother, a woman Wyvrs had not thought of since her death.

He decided that their child had got the best of their features but perhaps had gotten his selfish tendencies from his mother. Though Wyvrs was an Ancient Demon he had always prided himself on never telling lies or being selfish, though he believed those characteristics came from befriending Enochain Angels. He watched with a sad gaze as he realized the pained look in his child's eyes, a look he had seen in his own golden gaze eons ago. His warning to Alexander filtered through his mind and he wondered if that was why Magnus had sought him out.

"I grew tired of the gold." Wyvrs spoke in a simple tone as he gauged his son's reaction to his words. Magnus scoffed and folded his arms across his chest as he narrowed his eyes on the being; there was something about standing before one another that seemed to take Magnus's fear of the being away.

"Tell me, why have you sought me out?" Wyvrs questioned, he remained still, unmoving and even in the heat of the sun he remained hidden from Magnus.

"I want the journals." Magnus snapped, though he was uncertain why the words had left his lips. If Magnus were to be honest with him he had forgotten all about the journals, it would seem in his heartbreak he had forgotten many things.

"They are not yours to claim, and neither is she." Wyvr's words washed over Magnus like a cold wave, his anger and desire washing away as he looked to his boots.

The feeling of being a child who was just scolded by a parent crossed Magnus's mind and he wondered why he had such a feeling. However the feeling washed away as he saw Emerson, small and young, flapping around in the knit sweater Magnus had bought for her one day. The way her smile had lit up the room, the way her laugh sounded as if angels had entered the room. Then an image of the accident, seeing her lying on the pavement, glass surrounding her and her bleeding and broken; fire and crushed metal not far from her, the sounds of Tessa fighting a Greater Demon and Emerson unmoving had filled his mind.

He shook his head, his eyes glossing over from the worst night of his life. Seeing the girl he loved, lying broken on a hospital bed, hooked up to so many machines there was barely any room to move. The way she looked so frail and lifeless, the sound of Tessa crying in the corner and muttering how she couldn't tell Jocelyn. The accident had changed all of them, something inside Emerson had broken, leading to her always being so blunt, never caring for her words or understanding social cues or emotions. She had stopped smiling and laughing, had grown sadder, wearier of the world around her.

"It was a very painful time in the end you healed her for your own selfish needs." Wyvrs's words cut through the painful memories, pulling Magnus back to the here and now as he blinked rapidly trying to focus.

"She was only sixteen that night, tell me, was it the crying of Tessa or seeing her on the hospital bed that made you heal her, or perhaps, it was your growing love towards her." Wyvrs carried on; angering Magnus with every word he spoke.

"I healed her for her mother's sake; the mundane said she would die." Magnus hissed as anger filled his veins, though he could not deny the beings words, he had been selfish, he had healed her not for Tessa but because he had not been ready to let her die.

"You remind me of a man, long ago." Wyvrs spoke, his words calm and his tone smooth, causing Magnus to once again lose his anger as quickly as it had filled him.

"I'm not interested in story time." Magnus snapped as he went to turn and create another portal however he was stopped by a voice calling out to him.

"Bane, wait, Bane, no go, Bane, wait!" Yueng shouted as he appeared from thin air, his tiny chest rising and falling as if he had been running. He landed with a soft thump on Wyvrs outstretched hand as he sat on his palm, gasping for air. Magnus quickly turned and stared in shock at the goblin.

"Yue?" Magnus questioned in wonder, why the goblin was here and why was he near the being. Magnus wondered silently as he narrowed his eyes as the being reached up with his free hand and pushed back his cowl, revealing his features to Magnus. Magnus felt as if his world had stopped, the air left his lungs and he briefly wondered if he would faint. Standing before him was a man who looked so much like him that Magnus feared the next words to pass from the beings lips, however it was Yue who spoke once again.

"Am, Am, and Eno, gone!" Yue cried as he lifted his arms and pointed upwards.

"He means to say, Rhamiel and Ambriel have gone into a sleep once more, it is only Emerson and Alec now." Wyvrs spoke as he used his forefinger to steady Yueng as he stood on shaky legs.

"Not good, no, no," Yue spoke as he shook his head, latching onto his finger.

"That is good, that is what was needed." Magnus snapped as his jaw tightened, he had feared the worst when Yue had declared that they were gone. However at the mention of Alec's name Magnus felt guilt once more consume him as he thought of the way Alec looked at Emerson, of how he had carefully held her while she slept the night she returned. There had been such a look full of love in his eyes that night that Magnus had only ever dreamed of either of them looking at him in such a way.

"It doesn't matter, if they have fallen asleep once more, Yueng, I'm afraid it is time." Wyvrs spoke, disregarding Magnus as thoughts filtered through his mind. He knew the Ancient Demons were restless, wishing to return to the world but could only return when the Enochian's returned. And the only way they could was if Emerson collected the items of her brothers and sisters.

"Yue, go?" Yue questioned as he recalled the tale he would often tell to Emerson when she had been young living in China. He wondered if she even remembered the stories, the stories regarding the Enochian Antikeimena's, they would do well to serve her in the oncoming war.

"Magnus Bane, I suggest you return to the Mansion in China, take Yue with you, there is a war unlike any other on the horizon. I do not have time nor would I wish to explain things to you. You will wait for Emerson, Alec and their team to arrive at the mansion." Wyvrs spoke as he created his own portal and allowed Yueng to appear atop Magnus's head.

"Why should I listen to you?" Magnus spoke as he stood, refusing to move until he knew more.

"Because without me, you would not exist, now go and quell your love for her, she will need you but not the way you wish." Wyvrs spoke as he narrowed his eyes at Magnus, as if he was daring him to speak out against his words. Magnus debated on what he should do but the burning gaze of the being that both looked and claimed to be his father had him walking towards the portal, keeping in his mind's eye the mansion.

"And when should I be expecting them?" Magnus snapped as he glared at the being who only smirked.

"When they realize they will need you and Yueng," With these parting words, Magnus stepped into the portal, it closing behind him and he appeared in the center of the mansion. Silence settled around him and he allowed all of his emotions to wash over him, completely pulling him down.

"We wait, not long, not long," Yue muttered as he left the top of Magnus's head and returned to Emerson's old room, curling back up on her pillow and falling asleep to dreams of when she and he would play in the gardens together.
