One month.

Rebecca had been in a coma for a month due to blood loss and her personal health since she had left him three months before.

Her skin was pale and cold. She was practically lifeless but the doctors constantly told not only Jace but his family that her vitals were rising day by day.

Walking into the room where she was held, Jace was met with his father and younger brother, both who had still not talked to him.

Her nurse, Heather smiled softly at the young officer. Her dirty blonde hair in a messy bun from the countless hours she had been at the hospital with other patients and having a two year old at home. But nevertheless, she was always happy. Green eyes showed nothing but sympathy to the young man and family that barely left.

"She's the same, dear." She told him as she placed a hand on Henderson's shoulder comfortingly before leaving. His father sighed and put his hand inside of the brunette's, hoping she would open her eyes soon.

Jace looked at his two family members and sighed. He didn't like the awkwardness and the silence that was between them whenever he walked into the room. Evan was worse. He would glare at his younger brother before turning away. Alexander didn't even acknowledge him. His father was the only one that would talk to him but barely.

Her uncle, Dean, had come by day after day hoping that the girl he did so wrong by, would wake up. He was the person who was the angriest at Jace.

"I know what I did to her was terrible and I will never understand why the hell she forgave me but what you did to her...the pain that you caused her after all the promises you had made, you're just as sick as I used to be." He had told Jace the first time that he had met him.

Rebecca had not been eating, drinking a lot more and she started doing cocaine. She still went to class and kept up her appearances at her job out with the people that she not only called friends but family, she had completely shut them out.

The Taylor family all felt as if something was missing without her.

"Are there any leads in the case?" Henderson asked. The young man sat by the window and sighed.

"They're looking into friends and people from her hometown...no one's come forward or knows anything about what happened. Students at her school said that no one would even think about doing this to her." He replied, the sun bright.

"Have you looked into people that didn't like her that you also know? Like Finn or Di-," Henderson began but he was interrupted.

"They wouldn't do something like this. I asked Diana and she said that she had no reason to try and kill her while she was on a plane. And Finn..."

He hadn't even thought about Finn. He hadn't talked to his old friend but he also didn't think that he would've had time to do that with Miranda having the baby and him trying to constantly see his son.

Alexander scoffed angrily. "You think Finn isn't capable? He hated the fact that they got caught and that Diana didn't want to be with him after that." He said to his brother.

Finn had talked to his younger brother Vincent, who also happens to be Alex's best friend.

"How would know anything about Finn?" Jace asked sharply, not liking what his younger brother was implying.

Henderson sighed as his two sons began to argue.

"Vincent, dumbass. He said that Finn is a mess because he loved Diana but she didn't love him back... sound familiar?"

Jace was just about to charge at Alex when a voice stopped them.

"That's enough, you two," Tanya began. "I don't care if you don't like each other but that's not what's important. But he does have a point Jace." She said.

"You don't kno-," her second oldest child said but she interrupted.

"I know that that boy loved Diana and he thought that she loved him too. She didn't. She was filling the empty void with him until you got back. Finn could have done this. You need to ask the detectives to check into him."

The words that came out of his mother's mouth were shocking. They believed that his old friend could have done this?

Sure, walking in on them put a damper on things between them but... love?

Why would he do it?

He shook his head before leaving the room in a haste. He didn't want to hear the accusations that were coming out of their mouths.

From: Finn

Hey man. I know that the last few months have been hard but I wanted to meet up and talk about things. Have some beers and play some video games.

He quickly replied with a sure and he soon found himself driving to the apartment.

Finn wouldn't do this.

He fucked up but he wouldn't do this... what would be the outcome?

Having Diana back in his arms and me as his friend again?

That doesn't sound like the Finn I know.

Thoughts ran through his head even as he stood in front of the door. Knocking three times, he waited patiently.

When the door opened, Jace noticed how rough his friend looked.

His blonde hair was longer and slightly shaggy, his cheeks slightly caved in as if he wasn't eating, and his skin pale. He looked a mess but he smiled at Jace happily.

"Come on in." He said, stepping aside to let Jace in. The apartment was clean but smelled of beer and whiskey. "Drinking is a bad habit I guess." He said jokingly as he handed his friend a can of beer and took a seat on the sofa.

"How you been, Finn?" Jace asked after taking a long swig from the can.

Finn took a while to answer, looking around as if he was lost. "I'm getting there." He finally replied. "Just...trying to make up for lost time. Heal my mind from some bullshit."

Jace nodded but was curious. Though he said nothing, he looked out the window where the city was in full swing.

"What's up?" His old friend asked, noticing that he had gone quiet for a while.

"Rebecca was shot."

Finn sucked in a deep breath, already knowing that she had been but tried to play it cool.

"Seriously? I'm so sorry dude." His fake words didn't sound so fake to Jace.

"She's alive but barely. I was supposed to meet with her and had I not seen her body lying there, she would be dead."

She's alive? Finn asked himself. He thought he had killed her, taken the bitch out of the equation. He frowned deeply at the thought of Rebecca gaining consciousness and telling them what he did.

"I'm happy she's alive. She'll get better, J. Don't worry." Finn said, trying to look as sympathetic as possible. Jace looked into his face and something rang in the back of his head but he didn't care.

He was starting his friendship all over again.

But what he didn't know was that he was starting his friendship over with someone that tried to kill the girl that he was in love with.

He didn't know that the clothes that Finn wore that day were still sitting in the hamper.

And he didn't know that Finn was already making plans to kill Rebecca but this time, he wouldn't let her live.

Author's note:

Hello my lovelies! This is the first chapter of 10:31 a.m and I am so happy that it's here. The format is definitely different but when the time of 10:31 comes and it's important to the chapter, I will date and time the chapters.

Every two chapters, Finn's P.O.V will be the main one. He is a big part of this as the investigation continues. Though, we all know who did it, Jace and the rest of the characters don't so it's gonna be pretty great I think.
