William

The divorce had been finalized and I didn't know what to do. I had nowhere to go and the only person I could talk to was Rebecca but sadly she was going through what she was going through.

Irritation, hurt and anger filled me as I thought about the men that I called my best friends, both of them.

Jace Taylor and Demitrius Fallon, one was a childhood best friend and the other was a coworker that turned into a brotherhood. Both of them had hurt me beyond compare. It didn't make it any better that there was so much going on that I couldn't even think about finding Jacob, something that I wasn't supposed to be involved in but honestly didn't have a choice because I loved Jace.

Demitrius, just like Jacob had done to Jace, slept with my wife and to make matters even worse, he got her pregnant with a baby that I had believed to be mine.

I dialed the only number that I knew and waited for an answer.

"Hello?" The soft voice answered. My heart broke even more at the sound of her voice and at the sound of Mackenzie crying in the background.

"Do you need me because I damn sure need you." I asked her. She chuckled and sniffled shortly after before replying with a 'hurry up idiot'. I smiled knowing that I would get to see Mackenzie and I would be able to check on Rebecca. It had been months since and with her job, taking care of Alexander and Mackenzie, she was exhausted and she never let anyone help her.

Ten minutes later, I found myself simply opening up the door to the small house that I had become accustomed to with a small smile gracing my face.

Walking into the living room, I saw Alexander playing a video game, Mackenzie in the corner of the couch on his right, staring intently at the screen and Rebecca curled up on the loveseat, her eyes closed and a blanket covering her.

"She's been out since she hung up the phone and literally hasn't woken up. Kenzie stopped crying as soon as I started playing then she went to sleep." Alex explained quietly. I chuckled and made my way to her. Lifting her legs, I sat down next to her, and putting her legs on my lap. She opened her eyes and smiled a little at me.

"Willie," she whispered before repositioning herself completely and falling asleep with her head on my chest.

She deserved to be treated right. And it was gonna be my duty to show her.
