Rebecca

August 18th - 6:31 p.m.

It had been almost two weeks since we had moved to Malibu and no one found any connections. I was hoping that by now that would have.

The pain started out slow. I groaned quietly as my daughter moved wildly in my stomach.

Only two more weeks until she would be here. Finn had been more aggressive recently, not caring that he would give me bruises or cause me to hiss in pain. In fact, he seeme to enjoy it.

He looked at my stomach in disgust every time I entered the room and I knew that with those look, I would be dead soon and so would she.

As I read some random magazine he had thrown me, the pain began. I breathed in deeply as the pain lasted about a minute. I knew what was going on. Contractions meant labor and that meant my baby girl was coming. Finn wasn't going to be happy about this and that worried me.

12:45 a.m.

Finn had found out about two hours when I kept breathing deeply, trying to hold in my screams from the pain an surprisingly, he was acting very caring, getting me cold towels and checking the heartbeat.

A girl that he dated in college, a certified doula had agreed to come and help. Erica smiled at me before checking my cervix.

"You're 3 and a half centimeters. Still have a while to go unfortunately." She said softly as another contraction began. I nodded and sighed deeply.

Taking a chance, I looked over at Finn and saw his eyes glaring at my stomach.

"You can leave, Erica." Finn said, his voice low and filled with rage. She smiled at me a little, fear in her eyes and then she was gone.

"This is taking to fucking long. That thing is taking to damn long!" He sneered with so much venom it caused me to flinch. He raised his gun that rested in the back of his pants and pointed it at my stomach. "When she comes back, we're going to make sure that we speed this up." He said before walking away.

I rubbed my stomach and prayed that not only would she come soon but also Finn would be done with this.

"Push, Rebecca. Push a little harder." Erica coached gently. I did what she instructed before having to take a breather.

10:31 a.m.

She cried loudly, my heart jumping at the sound. Erica cut the umbilical as handed me my daughter.

She was beautiful. Her hair was curly and dark brown, her eyes were closed but her button nose scrunched every now and again. The little girl yawned and I cooed to her quietly. She smiled a little before opening her eye and it stunned me to see how hazel they were. They were beautiful.

"What's her name?" Erica asked.

"Mackenzie Alexandra Taylor." I replied and watched my daughter as she smiled when I said her name. She was destined for that name since the day Jace and I had that conversation about what our daughter's name would be.
