Her eyes looked into his and he broke down into tears. His knees gave way and he curled up, his body shaking with sobs.

His family looked at Jace in awe. He truly loved his girl. The way that he was crying was as if he was getting another chance at life.

"Come here." She whispered to him, her voice raspy and hoarse. He immediately got up and went to her. She grabbed his hand and squeezed it gently before putting it on her cheek.

Her skin was warm and had a little color in them. Her eyes, the beautiful hazel eyes that he had fallen for had forgiveness and love written in them.

"I got your text." She whispered. His head shot up. "I wanted us to talk about it but then..." she trailed off, beginning to look around the room as if there was someone going to pop out of the corners.

That worried Jace. She knew who shot her. She was scared of saying their name but she knew who shot her.

"Becks, do you know who did this?" He asked softly, everyone in the room waiting on the answer. She got a panicked look in her eye and her heart rate began to speed up. "Becks, you're OK. You're safe." Jace tried to reassure her but she began to shake in fear.

"He's going to kill me. He's going to kill me. He's going to make sure." She rasped, just as the doctor and two nurses came running into the room.

"Honey, we're gonna need you to go outside."

Everyone filed outside and Jace immediately began pacing.

Who threatened her?

Why was she so scared?

Picking up his cell, he called his captain.

"Taylor, what's up kid? How's your girl?" He asked sympathetically.

"She's awake but I have an update." He said. He told him about how Rebecca freaking out and how she said that 'he was going to make sure' she was dead.

"I'll call the hospital, watch the tapes from her floor and find out what's going on." Captain Lyle said, his voice hard. Jace nodded and waited for the next call so that he could watch the tapes.

"What's going on?" Henderson asked, watching his son pace with anger on his face.

"Her shooter came here and he threatened her." He said. Everyone tensed and began looking around.

Finn stood around the corner, watching in anger that his best friend had figured out that he was there. Didn't know that it was him personally but he was on to something.

"Officer Taylor?" A middle-aged security guard called to Jace. He immediately followed him to the office and watched the tapes.

On the tapes, someone had definitely gone to her room. But they knew were the camera was and made sure that no one could see their face. The only thing that he had seen was the tattoo on the right side of his neck.

He hadn't seen the tattoo before but he knew what to look out for the next time he was up here. He would also have people guarding Rebecca's room.

"The person had a tattoo of some sort on the right side of his neck. If anyone that isn't my family or me, you ask for ID and check their necks if they're males." He told the handful of officers that had offered to help guard Rebecca.

The captain made sure that Jace had all the resources he needed. Jace had been at the top of his class and he was quickly rising to become a detective. It was unheard of for a newbie to get that big of a promotion within 6 months.

He went back to the hospital, planning on staying there as long as possible. His family had already agreed that during the day, whenever they could, they would be there for her.
