Chapter 4 : Trust Issues

Amber POV

I woke up to the bright sun rays beaming through the gaps in my blinds. I threw on my the outfit I picke out last night then happily jogged down the stairs. I sat infront of the TV next to Kate who was watching some Greek music videos, I didn't really know why.

I was wearing some denim shorts and a vest top with a cute rainbow on it. I had left my hair natural, make up fully done, and I wore some red converses.

"As far as I know," Kate paused the TV. "You never wear make-up on a normal day, only special occasions. So spill, why are you wearing make-up?" She asked suspiciously. For God's sake. Was it that noticeable? My cheeks went red.

"Josh asked me out for a coffee," I replied, a huge smile plastered on my face. Kate turned towards me, not such a happy smile plastered her face. "What?" I asked, noticing something was obviously wrong.

"Josh?" She asked. I nodded. "Josh Hampele?" Again, I nodded. She furrowed her brows. "You don't know anything about him do you?" She asked. I pulled an innocent smile. "Oh my word, Amber. Josh Willis, Dated my friend Imogen. Cheated on her. They dated for 4 months and she fell for him, trusted him. Then BAM caught him kissing another girl." She explained. I looked down and sighed.

"People can change," I replied trying to seem as innocent as possible. She sighed.

"This happened last month, he's clearly looking for a rebound. He was almost as heartbroken as she was." She answered sharply.

"Maybe it was a misunderstanding," I said. I liked Josh. He was different to the majority of the guys I have dated. Except Mason, of course. Josh was hot too, which was an added bonus. She sighed.

"I'm just trying to warn you, I don't want you two arguing or something during work," She said, getting up to put her empty mug in the kitchen. "Also I know it may be hard, but please don't use Josh as a rebound for Mason." I froze. Why would I try to rebound?

I heard a knock on the door. I jumped up excitedly and skipped to the door. I opened it, he wore a white t-shirt and shorts that finished just at the knee. He smiled and escorted me out.

"No car?" I asked. He smiled.

"It's around the corner, literally a 5 minute walk from here. Don't be such a lazy ass." He replied cockily. I sighed, I didn't know it was around the corner. I shut the door behind me and we walked side by side together to the cafe.

Andrew POV

I walked into work. I really hoped that Amber wouldn't find me here. She would judge me. A stupid coffee boy isn't good enough for her. Although, she does now work in a cupcake shop. I suppose that counts for something? Nah who am I kidding. She'll probably fall for Josh and he'll break her heart like he did Imogen, Jade, Summer, Rhiannon and Gemma. Along with all the others who I can not remember. With Imogen, not only did he break her heart, she broke his too. All the other girls were rebounds that he didn't actually love.

I took my apron off the hanger and strapped it around me. I was the first employee here. I placed all the freshly baked muffins and cakes into the display cabinet and walked up the door, turning the sign to 'OPEN'. I went back to the till and counted my tips from yesterday. €7.19, wow that's not bad. I put the tips jar back on the shelf and waited for someone to arrive. Being the early bird was quite boring.

2 minutes later, a young woman came in. I looked up. She examined the menu carefully. She had long brown hair with blonde highlights. Her eyes were green, outlined with black eye liner, but not too heavily. She was really pretty. I was snapped out of the trance with her ordering her drink.
