Andrew POV :
-2 days later-
Me and Amber were currently driving back from the airport. On our last day, after she was allowed to get out of hospital, I took her to her parents' house to see if that triggerred any memories. According to Amber it didn't. It was worth a try though. I was pretty bummed that we didn't get to cash in that voucher for a free meal at a high class restaurant. Instead we got lousy food from a hospital canteen. I was hoping that taking her back to her current home in Rhodes would help her remember the most recent events.
I parked my car outside of my house and sighed loudly. The whole half hour drive from the airport to our estate was silent. I didn't know what to say to her. Part of me wanted to shake her and shout 'Just remember me!' but the other part knew that it would push her away further. I had to do more than tell her to remember. I opened the door and went around to the passenger's seat to open her door. She smiled sweetly as a thank you and climbed out of the car. I opened the carboot and took her suitcase out then handed it to her. She took it and turned around. She started to pace forward but then froze to her feet. I closed the boot and stared at her, waiting for whatever she was thinking to escape her lips. She spun around and stared at me with a dumb founded expression that looked surprisingly cute on her.
"Uhm, Andrew?" She asked, before her eyes quickly widened. "Wait..Was your name Andrew?" I nodded then folded my arms across my chest. She gulped. "Which house is mine?" She asked. I chuckled and strode past her, knocking on the front door. I was fully aware I had a key, but it was in my hand luggage. Still in the car. Around 5 or 10 minutes later, Kate finally answered the door. I could've got my keys out and let us in myself. It would have been quicker. Kate smiled weakly and shuffled out of the way, letting us in the house. I went in, Amber following slowly behind, dragging that noisy suitcase behind her. I sighed then pulled Kate into a hug, remembering what she had told me over the phone a few days ago.
I looked down at her, her eyes were puffy and red. I let out a loud sigh at the sight which makes her push away from my grasp. She made her way to the dining table and sat down, with her elbows on the table and her head in her hands. Amber quietly placed her suitcase next to the sofa and stood timidly beside me, clueless of what to do and where to go. I walked up to the table and pulled out the chair making it so I was sat infront of Kate. She looked up at me and smiled. Clearly a fake smile.
"So, how was England?" She asked. I sighed and shook my head. Amber sat in a chair next to Kate. Kate looked curiously at her and pulls a fake smile, clearly not sure how to handle having her house mate, best friend, employee and practically a sister, not remember her. She turned to face me and picked at the salad infront of her with her fork.
"Kate, before we talk about England," I start, I look at Amber and gulp. "What's wrong?" Kate looks up at me and drops her fork on her plate, causing a cherry tomato to roll off onto the table. She looks at it then scowls.
"You know Clara? My friend who lives across the road?" She asks. I nod. "Well, I kind of told her about the whole pregnancy thing. Like how it shouldn't have happened e.t.c. She told me to take another test to double check and," She takes a sip of her lemonade and sighs. "It was negative. I'm not pregnant!" She says. I smile. Wasn't that good news? Shouldn't she be happy about not having to worry about Miguel bolting?
"So, why are you sad?" I ask. She sighs again.
"Because, I know kids aren't exactly on my radar. Like I'd love to have them one day. But it still doesn't explain why I've missed last months period and why I've been feeling terrible and why I suddenly have a craving for sweet things! I ate a whole tub of white chocolate chips yesterday that were supposed to be decorations for my cupcakes!" I see a stray tear drop from her eye and she quickly wipes it away. I hear Amber cough and she opens her mouth.
