--Alaska's POV--

I want to disappear.

God, just let me disappear.

"I'm waiting for an answer," my mother said, completely furious.

Before I could say anything, I heard footsteps storming down the stairs.

"What's all the yelling about?" Daniel shouted, his eyes widened in surprise as he saw Devyn and I.

"What are you guys doing here?" He snarled.

"Hi to you, too," I rolled my eyes.

"Who the hell is that?" He gestured at Calum.

I turned to see Devyn who looked like she might pass out and Calum who was still frozen at the doorway.

"Leave, Calum," I told him.

He looked at the ground and hesitantly stepped inside to hand Devyn her phone before turning to leave.

My mother looked like she was going to have an aneurism. My dad, who had been observing the scene, finally decided to intervene.

"Alaska..." She said with an angry tone.

"Daniel, go upstairs," my father said sternly.

Daniel rolled his eyes and stomped his way up the stairs, slamming the door to his room shortly after.

My dad looked over at the clock and rubbed the back of his neck before putting a hand on my mom's shoulder.

"Why don't we talk about this in the morning? It's already after ten and I've got work in the morning," he said.

"No! We're talking about this now!" She hissed.

"Well I'm going to bed," my father said firmly.

My mother rolled her eyes in anger. Devyn and I obviously got that habit from somewhere. My father walked over to peck my sister and I on the cheek.

"Goodnight," he said monotonously.

He walked up the stairs but I didn't hear him close the door. My father is so nosey; he always wants to know what's going on with everyone but he never wants to get involved in anything.

I looked at my mother who now looked more defeated than angry, but still a bit angry.

"I'm not in the mood for this right now," I sighed.

"That's too bad," she spat. "Sit."

Devyn and I sat on the couch while she paced around the living room.

"Well," she began. "I don't recall either of you checking in since you left last week, but I'll overlook that. Actually, no I won't. I know you two are adults, but it wouldn't kill you to let me know you're okay."

We remained silent, so she went on.

"Now, when I call you, I expect a real conversation," she glared at Devyn. "And if you say you're going to call back, I expect that to actually happen."

"Sorry," we mumbled.

"You girls have phones for a reason, I don't see why you weren't answering," she said to me. "I guess I do now that a boy followed you to the doorstep."

Devyn and I looked at each other then at the ground.

"Someone better tell me what's going on," she warned.

"He's just a friend," I said. "You wouldn't believe who he's or how we met them so can we just go to bed?"

"Who is he? What do you mean 'them?'" She asked.
