--Alaska's POV--

When Devyn and Daniel came back into the living room, my mother and I kept quiet. He seemed to be in a better mood so we didn't question it.

My mom went out to water her garden while the three of us stayed inside watching tv.

"I guess we're gonna get going," I told my mom once she came back inside.

"Wait until your dad gets home. You can't leave without saying goodbye to him," she reasoned.

"Okay," I sighed.

It was already after 5 and he was usually home by 5:30. I laid back down on the sofa and continued to watch tv. My siblings and I had barely said anything to each other, but it was nice just to chill out with them.

After about ten minutes I heard my father at the door. He walked in and instantly greeted us with a smile.

"You're still here," he remarked.

"Yeah," I nodded. "We had to say a proper goodbye before leaving, you know."

"Aww," he threw his hand over his heart exaggeratedly.

Devyn and I giggled while Daniel was focused on his phone.

"Come on, I'll help you put your stuff in the car," he said as he put an arm around each of my sister and I to lead us upstairs.

"Wait," my mom called. "Dinner's almost ready!"

I wanted to just get back on the road already, but it was nice of my mom to cook dinner for us.

My mom could definitely cook. We had our ups and downs, but I could never turn down a meal made by her.

She made lasagna and we all sat at the table, digging in right away.

When we were finished, Devyn and I decided to be nice and do the dishes while my parents watched the news on tv. Daniel went straight up to his room after dinner without a word.

"Ready to go now?" I finally asked Devyn.

She nodded and we went into the living room to tell my parents.

"Don't you think there will be too much traffic now?" My mom questioned.

"I don't want them waiting much longer or it'll be too dark," my dad said firmly.

"Maybe you should just stay another night and leave in the morning," my mom said to me.

"We'll be fine," I rolled my eyes.

My father nodded in agreement and we proceeded upstairs to take my boxes to the car.

Once everything was safely stowed in the car, we began to exchange goodbyes.

"Daniel!" My dad's voice boomed.

Footsteps sounded from the stairs as Daniel descended.

"What?" He asked my dad.

"Your sisters are leaving," my father replied.

He came down the last few steps and I tackled him with a hug.

"Bye, little brother," I smiled as I pulled away. "See you soon."

He rolled his eyes and gave me a small smile.

"See you later, Danny," Devyn said as she hugged him tightly.

As we got in the car, I pulled out my phone to text Ashton before I started driving.

About to leave LA. Heading back to school.

I sent it and began driving towards the freeway.
