--Devyn's POV--

"This is the last one," I said, placing a box on the floor.

"Finally!" Alaska grumbled.

I rolled my eyes at her snippy attitude. I wasn't going to let Alaska's 'mood' ruin move-in day.

We'd gotten to the dorms early because Al wanted to do this as quickly as possible and avoid all the traffic. No such luck. There were cars everywhere and a sea of parents helping their kids move in. I kinda wished my parents had helped, but it was easier this way.

I got my key and we'd found my room in Trinity, the residence hall designated for mostly school of Liberal Arts majors (psychology, English, studio art, etc). Alaska had lived here her freshman year and she told me there were a few people of other majors mixed in.

Upon entering the somewhat small dorm room, I noticed I was the first one to get here. I'd applied for a double but when I got my key I found out that, due to the large freshman population, I'd be living in a triple.

I was anxious about rooming with one person, but now that I knew I'd have two roommates I was even more nervous.

"You can go if you want," I told Alaska.

"Okay," she sighed. "You gonna be okay?"

I nodded and she smiled, her irritated state had faded.

"Call me if you need me. I'll drop by before classes start," she went on. "I'm gonna go rest before work."

Alaska had been a Zumba instructor at the schools gym last school year and she decided to do it again this year. I needed to find a job, too...

I nodded again and pulled her in for a hug.

"Be nice and make friends!" She called on her way out.

I closed the door behind her and sighed heavily. I'd helped Alaska settle her things and although I had fewer possessions than her, I wasn't excited to unpack.

Looking around, I took in the small room. There were bunk beds on the right and a desk directly across with a bed above it. The desk looked big enough for two. There were three wardrobe closets in different corners of the room. In the fourth corner was a single person desk.

Overall the room looked quite cramped. I was unsure how I'd last nine months in such a space.

I put some of my stuff on half of the big desk, in one of the closets, and on one of the beds to mark my territory.

Pulling out my phone, I decided to text Calum.

Hey, hey! I just moved in! Miss you.

I smiled as I sent the message and suddenly heard keys in the door. It sounded as if the person was struggling so I stood up and opened the door.

A girl stood there with a box in one arm and keys in her hand.

"Thanks!" She smiled widely.

I moved aside and she entered, dropping her box on the floor.

"I'm Selene," she grinned as she turned to me.

"I'm Devyn," I smiled nervously.

We were interrupted by a knock on the open door.

A girl stood in the doorway with a backpack on, carrying a duffel bag.

"Hi!" Selene said excitedly. "Are you the third?"

"I think so," she nodded slowly. "I'm Nikki."

"I'm Selene and this is Devyn," she gestured at each of us.
