Chapter 45

"Maine!! Maine! Buksan mo'to!"

The two instantly awoke as they heard yells from outside their home. Maine quickly ran downstairs as she realized that it was her mother's voice that kept making noises.

"Ma?! Anong ginagawa niyo dito?" She asked. Looking at her mother as she was marching in their residence, climbing up the stairs to her children's room.

She quickly ran, only to see her mother packing her children's clothes and things.

"Mula ngayon ayaw ko nang makita ang pag-mumukha ng asawa mo. Maghihiwalay kayo. Sa gusto o sa ayaw mo." At that moment, Maine could feel her tears running down her cheeks as her mother told her those words.

"Ma, bakit po ba? Ano bang dahilan?" She asked. Clueless of what her mother was talking about.

"Alam mo Nicomaine wag ka na lang magtanong, puwede ba? Ligpitin mo na ang mga gamit mo na ang gamit mo kung ayaw mo na ako mismo ang magligpit." Mary Ann Mendoza was fuming mad and the last time Maine saw this was when someone bullied her older brother.

Being the protective mother that she is, she knew where she was coming from.

"Oh ano Maine?" Her mother asked, still she didn't move.

Mary Ann quickly went into their room, to see Richard sitting on the bed.

"Nay?" Was all he could say.

Mary Ann quickly went to her daughter's closet and quickly rummaged around and packed all of Maine's stuff.

"Chard...." Maine said as she quickly ran into the room.

She saw Richard crying. Tears slowly running down his cheeks.

Maine was quickly pulled into their family car with her children.

She finally gave up and sat in the car.

"Ma, where are we going?" Maine asked.

"YOU and your children are going to New York." She said before taking a sigh.

Maine' s mouth fell open.

"Ma..." Was all  that her mouth could release.

"Trust me. It's for the better."

Maine just shut her mouth. She couldn't do anything at the moment.

"Ma, mahal ko po si RJ. Hayaan niyo na lang kami maging masaya." She said as she held her mother's hand as if begging her.

"Anak, I  promise you. You will never be happy in the hands  of a Faulkerson." Her mother said.

There she was again completely baffled. Well, at this moment, she can't do anything.
