// Third Person POV //
Water gently lapped against the sandy bank of the pond as a blonde haired woman walked hand-in-hand with a tall man who pulled her closer into his side. She giggled at the man's action and reached up to plant a loving kiss on his jawline. They were enjoying a perfect day outside of the inner city on the day of a special anniversary for the both of them.
"Penny, I want you to know something," the blondes boyfriend said as they stopped in front of a bench. The man held both of the woman's hands in his and got down on one knee. "It's been years since I first saw you and that was when I knew that I would want to be with you forever. But I knew at that point that I couldn't have you until I asked. So, Penelope... will you be my wife?"
"Yes! Morgan, yes!" Penny had cried out after a moment of hesitate and shock. The light brown haired man rose to his feet and slid on a gold band around her ring finger. Morgan had known for a long time that he wanted to marry Penny but he could never find the right moment or time to do so but on the day of their anniversary seemed the best to do so. "We have to tell our families about this!"
As they walked back towards the gated entrance of the city they heard wild gunfire from within. The soldiers guarding the gate made Morgan and Penelope stop as they closed the large, heavy gate and ordered them to step away. They did as they were told but other people who were entering or leaving the city crowded the gate as they pounded on it, demanding answers on what was going on.
"It sounded like it came from the government building," Penny whispered to her fiancé as she looked up to him and he nodded his head in agreement. They started walking back where they came from, hoping to get away from the crowd forming around the gate. "What do you thing that was all about?"
"There is a possibility that it was an attempt at an assassination." The tall man stopped, causing the blonde to look back at him in questioning. Morgan let go of her hand as he rubbed the back of his neck, trying to find the right words to explain this situation. "There was rumours going around the factory that a group of protestors were going to kill Globalist. I just didn't think they would actually go through with it."
"Why didn't you tell anyone, Morgan? You know that you're suppose to alert law enforcement if someone's planning on killing our leader. That's not something you just keep secret," Penny explained, hearing another round of automatic weapons being fired from within the inner city. A group of people rushed past the couple towards the gate as they stood in silence, looking at each other until Morgan finally spoke.
"Now that we know something possibly bad has happened we need to protect ourselves." The light brown haired man grabbed his fiancée's hand and lead her far out of the small park to put some distance between them and the city. "Remember what we were talking about last night? How my friend knows about the abandoned tunnels and train systems?"
"Yes, but what does that have to do with any of what's going on?"
"We'll go there. It's safe because it's been blocked off for years ever since Globalist took over long ago," Morgan stated as he watched Penny's face, seeing confusion. "Do you trust me, Penelope? Do you have faith in me that I'll protect you?"
"Of course I do. Why would I not?" The man leaned down to kiss the woman's lips as the sound of another person was heard not far from where they stood. Leaving Penny's side, Morgan went to check on who was there and found an estranged man with a gun. Stepping backwards, the brown haired man stood next to his fiancée as the man raised the gun at him. "Dad? What's going on?"
"You need to get away from my daughter. Now," Penelope's father commanded as he flicked the gun in the opposite direction. The man stepped away from the blonde haired woman's side as he held up his hands in compliance. "Penelope, get over here."
"No. You need to tell me what's going on. What were the gunshots about? Why are you covered in blood?" The man with the gun glanced to his clothing and saw that his army fatigues were splattered with crimson blood. Shaking his head at his daughter's question he went up to her and grabbed her wrist, pulling her away from Morgan and out of the woods. "Let go of me! Dad what are you doing?! Morgan!"
"I love you Penny! Don't forget that!" The light brown haired man called as he disappeared farther into the woods. Penny and her father made their way back into the city and went to their home where they would wait until everyone in their family would be picked off, one by one, by their new leader.
